(TXT to Zara) Ava : Hey, do you have a minute?
(TXT to ) Zara : Hey. Sure. What's up?
(TXT to Zara) Ava : Do you ever use the 'big guns' when it comes to your gifts. You're up there like me in the same path of magics. And something happened. I'm not sure if you heard about my clinic exploding or not.
(TXT to ) Zara : I try not to use them if I can avoid it. Too dangerous. Your clinic exploded!! Are you okay!
(TXT to Zara) Ava : I'm okay. Drew the attention of something not nice. I think something might be broken with our powers, but it's still a working theory.
(TXT to ) Zara : I would offer to try mine but if there is something out there looking for us... I certainly wouldn't want to do it alone. When did this happen?
(TXT to Zara) Ava : That's part of why I'm reaching out. I may need you to try yours to make sure it's not just my powers that are doing it. Plus, they are focusing their attention on me right now. If I do something again, it might cause a bigger problem. This was two days ago.
(TXT to ) Zara : Okay. Just because it's you asking. If there is the chance of an explosion, the hospital may not be the best place to experiment.
(TXT to Zara) Ava : No. The hospital is a no go. We'll need to find somewhere safer and less populated.
(TXT to ) Zara : Do you have a patient in mind?
(TXT to Zara) Ava : Do you know Alice, on the Pediatric floor? The child with end stage leukemia? Her mom has the Shine. She knows what we can do at higher power levels. When I got back to town she asked if I could help because she knew that Alice was... well, she isn't going to make it that much longer. I told her that it could end up causing a lot more trouble down the line and that the best thing we could do was just to make her more comfortable. If it's just my powers that are messed up, then Alice's cancer would go into remission, and it'll be a happy ending for a deserving little girl.
(TXT to Zara) Ava : I can't lie. I kind of hope it's just -my- powers that are messed up, and not everyone else's.
(TXT to ) Zara : I don't want to seem cruel but I hope it's just you too. What were you doing that drew it's attention? Yes, I know Alice. I guess her mother could ask for her to go home but there might be a few objections from other staff. I'll see what I can do there. But if my powers are gone too, I also don't want to get their hopes up in case nothing happens.
(TXT to Zara) Ava : I'll talk to her mom, explain that this isn't a guarantee to work. It'll just be a nice day out, having a walk and then we'll try our best. We'll try, then mom will take Alice out of there ASAP as soon as we've tried just in case. Whether it works or not.
(TXT to Zara) Ava : Safety is number one.
(TXT to Zara) Ava : I want it WORK, honestly. More than anything. I'd love to see that little girl get to actually go home.
(TXT to ) Zara : Agreed. Were you doing anything out of the ordinary to attract attention?
(TXT to Zara) Ava : I was trying to cure neuropathy in someone. I was pulled into a Dream immediately and told 'Denied'. I tried again, and BOOM. Needless to say, if you try and you get the Dream. Stop there.
(TXT to Zara) Ava : If you aren't stopped, then it's just me. OR just the person I was healing.
(TXT to ) Zara : Neuropathy? You don't think that had something to do with it? Messing with the mind is a perfect way to find yourself in a Dream. Who were you trying to cure?
(TXT to ) Zara : It may have been your patient who refused to be cured and attacked. Maybe even subconsiously.
(TXT to Zara) Ava : That could be it? We'll find out. Do you know Ravn?
(TXT to Zara) Ava : He got pretty messed up in the explosion. I had to heal him.
(TXT to ) Zara : Was he your patient? I don't know him by name but you know how bad I am socially. Wait, you were able to heal him after the explosion? You still had your gift?
(TXT to Zara) Ava : He's a friend. The first patient I had at the clinic, though. Then it exploded. Ugh. I can still heal. I just can't use the upper level heal of my gifts. I need to know if I'm the only one. This denied thing is bothering me. Whoever this was left an actual, physical post it note in my office. It came out of the Veil to do it.
(TXT to Zara) Ava : sends a picture of a pink post it note with the word DENIED scrawled on it
(TXT to ) Zara : Or it was your patient who wrote it very much in this world. Though with a whole lot of Dream stuff going on as well. Have you got someone staying with you while we sort this out? You might have a bullseye on your back.
(TXT to Zara) Ava : Oh no, he was knocked out cold. Also, he doesn't have that kind of power. His power level is less than mine. Unless something is using him, which is always possible. Something I'll have to add to the list of possibilities. I don't have someone staying with me. But my street is filled with powerful folks, if that makes you feel any better? Also, I live next to someone even more powerful than you and I are in our kind of magic, so that's saying something.
(TXT to ) Zara : Okay. It sounds like you live on the most attractive street in the world to them. But if you ever need a place to stay. Or hide - no one comes to my place - then you let me know. I'm going to leave a spare key in your locker at work. Whenever you a safe place. Come on over. Any time.
(TXT to Zara) Ava : Uhhhh. Wow. Since we actively invite Faerie's into our garden to upkeep my forever Disney-Summer-Garden yardwork and keep them sated with cookies and alcohol... you're probably not wrong, and that's a really good point. I should probably spend a few nights here and a few nights there, huh?
(TXT to Zara) Ava : But aren't I just inviting trouble your way?
(TXT to ) Zara : I can handle trouble if it means protecting you. I doubt the Dream creatures are much worse than Somali warlords or working at the Asylum. There is strength in unity.
(TXT to Zara) Ava : Alright alright. Doctors standing strong against The Veil together. Hopefully nothing will actually bother us though. You should have heard this awful laughter I heard. The woman's laugh was horrible.
(TXT to ) Zara : Was it pig-snorting laughter like I do? That's pretty awful 🙂 But, seriously, I understand how creepy that dimension can be. Together we'll come through it. Promise.
(TXT to Zara) Ava : No. That's hilarious.
(TXT to Zara) Ava : This was like... like someone took a recording of a woman laughing. And they're trying to make it sound like that, over and over again. But they aren't getting it right.
(TXT to ) Zara : Yeah, that's creepy. The Other Side has a bad history of emulating us. We should be thankful as they're easier to see because of that. When shall we do the thing with Alice?
(TXT to Zara) Ava : I'll talk to her mom and let you know. I'll make sure they're emotionally up for it.
(TXT to Zara) Ava : See you later for coffee?
(TXT to ) Zara : Of course. Remember, any time you need a place, come on by. Whether I'm home or not.
(TXT to Zara) Ava : Thanks, Zee!
