Bureaucratic Runaround - In a town like this one, it's always good to have someone around to know how to give the bureaucrats the runaround the legal way. It's the best way to keep their nose out of the town's business on the rare occasion that someone comes poking around that seems resistant to the Veil. She knows how to keep people off the trail and keep town secrets and mysteriously dead bodies, safe from out of towners.
Coroner and Doctor - Newly back in town after having been gone for two years to finish up some new licensing exam, Ava has returned to take on the gig as coroner. She has a background in both medicine and forensics, so she will be splitting her time between the two activities while she settles back in. During her off hours from her official Coroner's position, she will see patients at her private office.
Local - Born and raised in town, Ava spent most of her life in Gray Harbor. She left town for college, then came back to do her internship and medical examiner training under the tutelage of the ME here in town. She would travel back and forth between here and school, working on internships and degrees until she was finally ready to settle back in town. There are some rumors that being in the big city for school might have changed her some, what with her fancier clothes and penchant for nice coffees. But she's still a Gray Harbor girl at heart.
Biology Research - Her own personal hobby is looking into the different biology of the people in town (who give permission), to try to figure out what it is about the Gray Harbor people that allow them to so freely access and use Glimmer. She uses her free time to look at it from a metaphysical and actual physical standpoint, and has her own personal thesis that she's working on, solely for her own self interest on the matter.
Fancy Coffee - Can't get it much here in town, but she would kill for some expensive, fancy brewed caffeine beans.
Healer - In all the ways that count. Doctor and very talented Spiritually. She's available to help with a simple call. Most of the locals already know this. Word may have spread to some of the non-locals as well.
Ava was born and raised in Gray Harbor. She always had a soft spot for helping everyone and anyone that she could. If someone had a scrape or any kind of 'boo boo' she was the one running over with her little first aid kit to help make them feel better. Her parents always knew that she was going to be a doctor someday. It became even more clear that this was her destiny the day that their cat, Mr. Boots, had gotten hit by a car and came limping and bloody into the yard. Ava was inconsolable as she held onto his body, clutching the cat to her chest as she sobbed and sobbed. Both of her parents had seen the state of him, and knew he was about to die, but they couldn't manage to pry him away from her. Then they got that weird feeling tingling down the back of their necks, making their hair stand on edge.
By the time they managed to pry the cat away from Ava, he was already starting to look better, to walk better. They still had to take him to the vet, but over the next couple of days, and with a very attentive Ave looking after him, Mr. Boots made a remarkable recovery. Her parents knew what had happened. Her father, at least, knew from personal experience what was going on. It was time to have The Talk. She was only six, but that didn't matter, They wouldn't care. As time went on, Ava learned to be more careful, learned to hide it better, and learned to get better with it. Unlike many others, she didn't develop a bunch of other gifts. For some reason she only seemed to develop in the ways of the Spirit. It just seemed to be a calling.
As time moved forward, she continued her path of healing on to medical school. On to internships. On to her PhDs. She would move on to become both a medical doctor and a coroner, one to aid in keeping people alive, the other to help her town cover up their dead. She is a protector, and sometimes that takes on weird shapes. This was hers. She's been out of town for the past year, working on a new certification. However, she's just arrived back to town to reopen her clinic and to take on some of the rising coroner cases that have been building up.
It's good to be home.
Slightly above the average height for most women her age, Ava stands at five foot seven, or a little taller in heels. Squared shoulders and perfect posture allows her to carry herself with a certain level of grace. At work, Ava can typically be found in a pair of dress pants, a solid color button down top made of hard to stain fabrics, and a crisp, white lab coat. Her dark hair is often up in a long ponytail, or in a tight bun to keep it out of the way. Sensible shoes are worn inside the lab, but switched out for heels to match her attire the moment she leaves. Her eyes are her most striking features, heterochromatic in nature. They are a grey-blue on the outer ring, but green on the inside ring just around the iris. It's a different form of heterochromia than many are used to, but still quite enchanting.
Outside of work her attire is typically a little more high end than might usually be found around the area, but still fits the usual look of the town. A simple cardigan and dress pant combo for going out, but the designer who made that cardigan probably can't be found at the usual stores around town. Still, despite all that, she's always wearing a warm smile, and there's something about her that seems comforting and open to conversation.
