Haven

Town Weirdos - The Havens are strange people. Not only does this reputation precede them, but usually they have an aura of weird that's easy to spot. They live in an actual log cabin, they own a bonsai tree shop in town and Penelope drives a bright lime-green Volkswagen Beetle.

Rookie - PO Haven is in her rookie year with the department and works the night shift. The dispatchers like her because she takes any run sent to her without complaint. The veterans tend to give her the side eye, but respect both her work ethic and the rapidly growing pile of solved burglaries and robberies attached to her personnel folder.

Sketch Artist - Penelope used to doodle a lot in high school. This daily practice eventually morphed into a useful skill, namely the sketching of people's faces. And while it has come in handy at her work, she also occasionally can be found at local fairs and festivals drawing caricatures. The money she earns is donated to the local no kill animal shelter. She is a friend to the furry. Animals, not manimals.

Penelope Haven, also known as Nelle, is a strange bird from a family of strange birds. Born and raised in Gray Harbor at the family's ancestral log cabin in the woods, she sat at the reject table in high school, but managed to acquit herself quite well, especially in the skills of "dodging bullies by running away and jumping over stationary obstacles like a crazy person" aka parkour and "doodling in the margin of her notes so often that she actually got pretty good at sketching realistic renderings" aka sketching.

Graduating, she spent several years working at an instructor at the family's bonsai tree-ery before veering wildly towards law enforcement, primarily with the goal of one day becoming the female Fox Mulder (possibly the result of a weeklong marathon binge of the X-Files).

She joined the Gray Harbor Police, finished her training and field training and is now working as a Police Officer. A Rookie, she nonetheless has a reputation for thoroughness with her case jackets, a habit of putting suspects off-guard with her interrogation technique and then there's her strange knack for being able to locate lost things. She has a truly impressive record of solved burglaries and robberies, given her short amount of time on the streets.

This talent, for finding things that are lost, is a part of her Glimmer. She first used it in high school when she misplaced her Uncle Mortimer's prosthetic leg.

 Haven is a coltish blonde, standing at 5'8", long of limb, fair of skin, with eyes of electric blue. Her honey-blonde hair has been cut short, no more than two inches in length at its longest, the sides tapered down. Her makeup is mostly subtle, dark liquid liner giving her pale gaze a little sharpness. Her skin is smooth and unblemished, eyebrows prominent and neatly arched.  Around the top of her left ear, she wears a delicate silver earcuff. 

 Haven is dressed in a police uniform. The top is a crisply pressed dark blue, collared button down, top button undone. A shiny silver badge in the shape of a shield is present over the left upper chest, pinned in place. Beneath the badge is a pocket and tucked into the top of the pocket is a pen and a handcuff key. On the other side of the chest is a pinned name tag that says: P. Haven. Just perceptible underneath the top is the outline of a Type IIIA bulletproof vest.

 Around the officer’s waist is a leather belt with multiple brass buttoned belt loops to secure it in place. On the belt is a kydex holster with a thumb break containing a 9mm handgun. Also present on the belt is a leather holder for handcuffs, a telescoping baton, a little pouch for nitrile gloves, a taser, a flashlight and a radio.

 Crisply pressed dark blue cargo pants and black boots with a well-polished toe complete the uniform.
