Police Officer - As a newish patrol officer, Michael is here to protect and serve. He could be practically anywhere either professionally or in a personal capacity.
Out of Towner - Being from out of town, it might be a common thread, or it might be that you can show him to some of the spots he hasn't seen yet.
Boxer - Semi-pro and amateur, regional champion, Michael spent a lot of years growing up learning how to box.
Marine - Once a Marine, always a Marine, so if you're a soldier, retired or active, he is more than happy to have a conversation with you. That said, he isn't the sort to sit and tell war stories, so it's both a hook and not.
Growing up in Boston, Michael was good at two things: boxing and getting out of trouble. As he matured, he was a middling high school student and segued that to a poor college average as well. Towards the end of high school he picked up boxing because his folks insisted on him finding a "positive outlet" for all of his excess energy. Over time that turned into a moderately successful period as a golden gloves regional champion, and then as a semi-pro on his come-up until he injured his elbow.
Enrolling at Boston U, he attended with a focus on criminal justice. He dropped out after two semesters and enlisted in the Marine Corps, and served six years abroad in Afghanistan--his reasoning being that he was entirely interested in paying for college.
As a Marine he was a skilled soldier and good friend, but otherwise rather unremarkable. He had a few combat engagements, but came away relatively unscathed, not suffering from PTSD, but still a bit "odd" as it would turn out. Returning from overseas he shifted his attention back to finishing his degree and finally joining up with a local police department.
After a brief search, he found a job in Gray Harbor.
A fair skinned young man in his early thirties, Michael has a symmetrical appearance and a healthy athletic physique. Since he arrived and started working for the police department, he has been keeping his face cleanly shaven. Trimmed short but professional, his dark black hair has been neatly combed to the side and styled only slightly, just enough to be presentable. His eyebrows are slightly thick and matching color, and play off well with his bright blue eyes. Of above average height, he tends to wear outfits that suit his athletic muscular build but aren't over the top. His uniform always neatly pressed, his clothes always freshly laundered.
