Suriel was born in Gray Harbor, but her mother divorced her father after a few bouts of infidelity on his part. While she could claim to be a 'Townie' by birth, she doesn't. She really doesn't want anyone to know that her father was the horrible man that ended up shooting himself when she graduated her Doctoral program. Even if he did leave her everything.
Her stepfather adopted her legally after her mother remarried. They relocated to California. Where she learned about all kinds of things, but she always came back to the Zoo and animals. She wanted to be a zoologist and wanted to work with zoos. It was her one driving focus for a bit.
She was an intern at the San Diego zoo when a guest decided to Houdini themselves into the Mountain Lion enclosure. She managed to get the guest out without them being hurt, but she herself got pounced from behind and bitten in the shoulder. It broke the bone and tore arteries. She was lucky to live. She went back to work after she rehabbed.
And that's when she started hearing the thoughts of the animals. She was FREAKED OUT. She didn't know what was happening and she didn't know what to do. Then she got a call that her father had committed suicide. She had to go home, back to Gray Harbor. To take care of the final preparations and things. Her father left her everything. His house, his papers and his money. It was a sweet gesture from a main that had never been around. In Gray Harbor she got some answers, mainly from her grandfather. He said she had the 'Glimmer' or Glitter. She wasn't sure about it, but when she started working at the zoo and had the encounter with that white peacock, that's when she knew it was real.
That peacock was the devil! It just tells people all day long how pretty it is. If only the public knew how vain that fancy turkey was!
That was years ago. From being back in town she's learned that sometimes her dreams are awful, sometimes they are clear, but there are times where she knows something is there and trying to get her. It's terrifying, but she doesn't tell anyone. Better not to have the locals think you are nuts.
Tall and pale with long raven locks, Suriel presents a rather strong and silent air about herself. The side of her neck is scarred on the left if she's wearing a shirt that's cut the right way to see. She has the laugh lines of someone who has been around for awhile, but still holds some secrets. She wears utilitarian clothing, mainly the uniform of the local zoo when she's on duty.
