A two story brick-faced row building over on Spruce street, this little gaming shop occupies the first floor. The front aluminum and glass facade lights the sidewalk in front of it with an array of neon signs from Nintendo, Atari, Sony, and more. A neon sign in cool blue, with Tron-reminiscent font declares it One Up. The front door informs you the premises is monitored by closed circuit recording, and 'Unattended Children Will Be Sent To Awaken The Dark Dragon.' There is also a smaller 'Now Hiring' sign, but listed under qualifications is: 'Must beat Mario Brothers 1-1 in 29 seconds.'
Owned and operated by Abitha "MacTheKnife" Machinae, the shop is built to serve all your gaming needs, be it console, PC, retro, and more. Test plays are allowed, as demonstration consoles are set up in strategic spots around the shop, as well as a 'Build of the Month' setup of a custom constructed gaming desktop, loaded with the latest and greatest of online games. A recent addition to the store when it was reopened, there was now a section of the wall dedicated to board gaming and table-topping. There were even a few shelves for CCG's.
It’s owner is in-shop most days or at the very least contactable over social media through one of her many handles or the main One Up Gaming page itself. She takes commissions on custom retro gaming console restorations or refurbishments, some previous works displayed in the lit case, or advertised online.
