The room is well appointed and comfortable, the hotel fairly nice, and the view one of the city lights. Justin's settled into it pretty well, some of his things out and about -- laptop, etc. When she arrives, he is sitting in one of the chairs looking out the windows at the city lights beyond, a glass of bourbon in one hand. He calls out "It's open" when she arrives.
Dahlia entered the hotel room with a bag of snack food, as promised. Some chips and brownies and a few bottles of sodas. "You look comfy." She flashed him a smile, setting the bag on the bed and moving over so she could look out the window. "Such a pretty view." A wistful sort of sigh as she definitely snagged his glass of bourbon to take a sip before offering it back and lowered her gaze from the window to him.
Justin takes another sip from his glass as she makes her way over toward the window, atching her as she looks outside. He smiles a little amusedly as she takes the glass from his hand, letting her take it, and accepting it back when she offers it to him. He says, "There are some nice views in Gray Harbor, too." He takes another sip and then lifts the glass, offering it to her once more.
"There are. But none from this high up. Well, unless you're in Bayside. Pretty sure those buildings are the tallest in that city." Another sip is taken from the accepted glass. "And definitely not in my neck of the woods. Do you want a brownie?" She asked, giving him the glass back once more and moving to find her own glass so she could pour herself some. "Thanks for letting me come over."
"I suppose that's true," Justin says when she mentions the apartments at Bayside. "I don't think I saw any taller buildings downtown. The place really hasn't changed all that much over the years." He nods when she asks if he wants a brownie. "Sure, bring me one." He lifts the bottle and refills his glass, and holds it out to refill hers when she returns.
Two brownies are retrieved and Dahlia holds the glass out for filling. Then she offers one of the brownies to him before settling in the opposite chair, relaxing. "It's eerie. How little it's changed." She nodded. "But on the other hand, it feels like a lot has." She shook her head some and took a slow sip of the alcohol. The brownies were those little 'cosmo' ones. With the m&m type candies scattered throughout. "I didn't realize how many places people claim are haunted in this town until I started house hunting for you." A soft little laugh as she set the glass down to open up her brownie.
Justin laughs a little bit at that and says, "Yeah? Did you find me a haunted house or two? Tell me that they at least have some interesting stories to them and that the ghosts aren't boring. I don't want to live in a place where there's just weeping all the time. The walls need to run with blood at the very least." He's clearly kidding, an amuse little smile on his lips. "Did you find anything interesting?" He unwraps his own brownie and takes a bite from it, washing it down with a swallow from the glass of bourbon.
Dahlia grins as he gives his stance on haunted houses. "Maybe." Her own bite of brownie taken, slipping off her sandals and moving so she was laying across the chair, legs hanging over one of the arms. "There's some house a girl just went missing in. But you prolly don't want that one. Too much heat and attention likely. Don't wanna mess with it." She mused. "And there's a place near the outskirts that seems nice but apparently is built on one of those indian burial grounds or something." Her head tilted so she could focus on Justin again. "Then of course there's a few nice normal homes where the only thing you might have to worry about is nosy neighbors."
"Yeah, I'm going to pass on that one," Justin says with a slight shake of his head. He eats his brownie while he listens, his attention on her as she describes the places that she's found. He raises both brows a little bit and then says, "I think we can skip the Poltergeist house, too. Let's go for nosy neighbors. At least I'm used to those."
"Aww well there goes that idea for Poltergeist 4." Dahlia feigned a disappointed look. "We'll look at them soon then. They're in some of the nicer areas of town. I'll send you the info so you can get in touch with the realtor. Unless you want me to. I don't mind." She lifts her glass up to finish off the contents of her glass and nudge it closer to the bottle for him to refill.
"I can get in touch with the realtor," Justin says. "You've already done a lot already just finding them for me." He lifts the bottle and refills the glass when she nudges it closer before setting it back down again. "I really do appreciate it." He sets his glass down and stretches a bit, arms over his head until his back makes a slight popping sound and he sighs, "Oh. That's better."
"I'm happy to help." Dahlia giggled a bit as she watched him stretch. "You're one of my best friends and you decided to move up here. So of course I want to help." Finishing off her brownie and carefully turning to her side so she was facing him better. "Who knows, maybe you'll even hook a cute guy with a great ass that likes chaps." Teasing him with a wink.
Justin laughs and picks up his drink again, taking another sip from it and says, "I'm not the one with the thing for chaps, remember? That was Cowboy Hat. I just thought he had a great ass." He shrugs his shoulders a little bit and then smiles. "Who knows? We'll see what happens. One never knows."
"Pfft. But he looked good in them!" Dahlia grinned. "We will. This town is...weird. Kind of. I can't really put my finger on it." She set the brownie wrapper up on the table. "But either way. I really am glad you're going to be close. No more of this going years without seeing each other in the flesh business." Pushing a hand through her hair lightly. "You think there's anything decent on the tv to veg out to?"
"I mean, it was always a little weird, even when we were kids, but isn't that sort of part of its charm? The whole, Twin Peaks vibe? Like all of a sudden you're going to end up in a lodge with creepy little dude talking backwards at you?" Justin grins as he gestures a little bit with his glass. He smiles then and tilts his head a bit, regarding her for a moment or two before saying, "Yeah. We need to make sure that doesn't happen again." Pulling himself to his feet he gets up and grabs the remote, holding it out to her. "No idea."
"Dear lord I'd probably have a meltdown if that happened." Dahlia laughed. "I dunno if I'd call that part of the charm or what..." The grin is returned before she finished off her drink and accepted the remote. She shifted so she could sit properly and then stand up. "Well let's see." Sitting on the edge of the bed and flicking the TV on, starting to scroll through the channels. "I should have checked Leon's old stash to see if he had any weed still laying in there." She laughed. Leon being another of her three brothers.
Justin chuckles and says, "Okay, okay, no creepy little backward-talking dudes." He asks "How's Leon doing, anyway?" He had met her brothers during one of their many summers in Gray Harbor. He wanders over to the bed and collapses onto it, rolling onto his back and piling up enough pillows to practically sit up, tucking one arm behind his head while she starts to scroll through the channels.
"Okay I guess. I haven't talked to them too much. I'm trying to get them to come back to town for a while. So they can spend some time with mom but. We'll see." A little frown on her features, though he couldn't see it. "This looks like it might be interesting." Some HBO movie that apparently just started. "A little spooky. To really make you ask yourself if you don't want those haunted houses." Laughing as she moved farther up on the bed, pulling the back of snacks somewhat in between them as she curled up next to him.
Justin can't help but smirk just a bit at the choice of movie and shakes his head a little. "You're really set on finding me a haunted house, huh? You trying to scare the pants off me?" He doesn't seem to mind the movie choice, though, and he sets his glass down on the little nightstand next to him. He seems satisfied with his brownie and his drink for the time being, and settles in to watch whatever she put on. "Want me to give him a call and shame him into coming back? I'll dare him to do something stupid. That usually works." He flashes her a grin.
"Maybe I am." Teasing him with a chuckle. "Maybe I just like the idea of chilling in a haunted house sometimes." Relaxing into the pillow mountain she laughed. "Hell, call all three of 'em. I'll bet they'd take you up on your dares too. You remember how crazy they could be. They haven't chilled out that much. I'll be impressed if you manage it." The grin returned before focusing back on the movie. Which ultimately would turn out to be not too terrible. The right amount of jump scares mixed in with a good portion of suspense and anticiaption. And an ending that was more or less satisfactory.
