It was probably nearing brunch time more or less when Isolde entered the Waffle Shoppe. It was a new place for her! And waffles were good right? She wandered over to the counter to claim a free seat and peek at their menu. At least she was trying today - because she couldn't look like a crazy person if she was trying to follow up on odd jobs and such that she'd found in the papers and on ads. Maybe she was really just avoiding trying to learn how to write a resume. In any case, here Isolde sits at the counter, perusing their menu and ordering a hot chocolate. Her attire consisted of a pair of faded blue jeans with a black t-shirt and a ragged looking men's flannel over top.

On the bar, there's a red cap placed, with a white and red winged wheel as the logo on it. The Detroit Red Wings of the NHL. The owner is seated in one of the chairs already, looking rather lost in thought. There's some french toast in front of him, but it looks like it hasn't been touched yet.

Isolde's gaze slides over to the cap as she catches it out of the corner of her eye. Then it slides to the plate of French Toast, before looking to the owner. Then back to the French Toast. Then back to the owner. "Cold French Toast is bad." Such a simple sentence, and spoken very sincerely . Then she looked back at her menu. Setting it down and deciding on two waffles, because this was a waffle place. Duh. It's the obvious choice for a first time visit.

Standing up from one of the booths where she had been seated with a manager looking person, Lyric gives a hand shake and smiles before walking over to the counter area and sliding into a seat. "Hi," she greets the other two, reaching out a hand to touch the bill of Jonathan's hat. "I bet you had fun when you played for them." She retracts her hand and leans her elbows on the counter. "I want an ice water please. If it's free." Placing her own order.

Isolde also gives Lyric a bright smile, even though she has no idea who this woman is. "Your hair is pretty." Before taking a sip of her cocoa.

Jonathan is still looking a bit lost in thought, but the words spoken makes him stir from those thoughts. "Hmmmm... Oh, yes... Bad..." he replies to Isolde, along with a brief smile. "Thanks." He then offers a grin to Lyric. "Hey," he offers, before he nods a little bit. "Just as much fun as someone who gets to live their dream," he replies, a bit lightly.

"Oh Thank you!" Lyric smooths a clean hand over her clean hair and smiles eagerly. "I had a job interview. I turned in an application. I have to get some work because the money is gone." It's a lamenting sound though, rent was hard to come by. The smile is given over to Jonathan, "I'm glad you got to live your dream for a little while." She looks down at the bad french toast and her stomach gives a big ole growl. She grins.

"I'm job hunting too. It's difficult." Her nose wrinkled. "But I think I have some possibilies...Did you have a resume?" Probably of course she did. And there were applications too? Why was trying to make money so red-taped?! She took another sip of her cocoa. "What did you play?" Is asked to the man as she looks to the hat again for a moment.

Jonathan smiles, nodding as he hears what's said. "I'm glad I got to do so too. Even if it was very brief." Turning to Isolde, he offers her a smile. "Ice hockey," he replies, before he grimaces momentarily at the mention of job hunting. "I suppose I should do so at some point as well..." A grin is offered to Lyric. "I hope the interview went well."

"I don't have a resume. Mostly at places like food places you don't need one. But I did fill out an application though and turned it in yesterday. The manager was nice so maybe I'll have a job here soon." Lyric reaches for her water when it arrives and pokes a straw down into the ice before turning on her stool and facing the other two as she sips.

"Yes, good luck!" Isolde agreed with the man. "I will remember that." About not needing an application for most fast food places and similar. "My name is Izzy." She offered to the pair, leaning against the counter a bit. "Ice hockey...sounds interesting." Though it was clear Isolde was not very informed on the sport. Like her knowledge of it probably was limited to just the name and that you played with sticks and a hockey puck. "How long did you play?"

"Thank you. I should hear for sure soon." Another few sips of her water and Lyric looks back at Jonathan, not saying anything, because she is also listening to his answers. Except then she does say something. "Can I try on your hat? What kind of work will you do?"

Jonathan sherugs a little as he listens. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Izzy," he offers at the introduction, before he adds, "I'm Jonathan. And I played two seasons as a pro, unless there's a miracle happening to give me the chance to go back into it. Played since I was a kid, though. First back here, then juniors and college." He grins to Lyric. "Sure. And I don't know what kind of work yet. Need to think about that for a bit."

"That's a long time to play. I'm sorry you can't play anymore." And Isolde did seem very sorry to hear this news. "So you are from Gray Harbor? Are you from here too?" She asks Lyric, looking over as her waffles were set down and gave a quiet thank you to the server. "I'm going to the lavender farm soon to see if they need help. Maybe you can too! Until you know what you want to do."

The water goes to the counter and Lyric reaches for the hat and slides it on backwards, the bill off center a little to the right. Smiling, she asks, "How does it look?" As Izzy talks she gives her a look too, adding belatedly. "I am Lyric. It's nice meeting you Izzy." A bob of her head, "I lived here all my life. Never left. The lavender farm sounds fun. What will you do there?"

Jonathan grins and gets out his phone as Lyric tries on the hat, taking a quick picture. "Looking good," he tells her, before he smiles at Isolde. "Thank you. And I'm from here, yes. Lived here until high school, when I left for Seattle."

"Nice to meet you both." Isolde nods and giggles a bit when Lyric puts on the hat. "It looks good." She confirmed with a smile and then all but drowned the waffles in some kind of blueberry flavored syrup before taking a bite. A shrug at Lyric's question, swallowing. "I dunno...picking flowers I think. I hope they let me help, it would be a good thing." Shifting a bit in her seat. "This is my first time here. A few weeks...a month maybe. It is...a gray place." Another bite of waffles taken with zero elaboration.

Lyric blows Jonathan a playful kiss when he takes her picture but doesn't remove the hat yet, even though she has no intention on keeping it. "Jonathan is a really nice guy," she says with heartfelt honesty. Holding her water again she nods a little, "Picking flowers would be fun. I couldn't imagine getting paid for it. But I'd do it for money. Who doesn't love flowers?"\

Jonathan pauses momentarily as he hears Isolde's words, nodding a bit as he finally starts eating some of his food. "True," he offers, before he smiles at Lyric's words, "I'm sure there are some people who disagrees, but I try to be nice," he replies, listening to the rest of what's said as he eats a bit more.

"Exactly. Flowers are good things." She smiled a little. "I should get more flowers for home." She dug into the pocket of her flannel and pulling out her phone to send a text. She is also clearly new to this whole phone thing because it takes her a little longer than it probably should to send the message. Then she flashes a smile to them again. "I think you are nice so far." Agreeing with Lyric apparently. "Do you want waffles?" Was the follow up question to the young woman.

"They are. Especially lavender. I love that color. And orchids are pretty too. And periwinkles." Lyric just keeps naming them. She takes another sip of water and then there's the offer of food. Afraid to appear too eager, she smiles but can't hide the hopeful look. "I'm really hungry," she confides. "And when I get work, I could get you a lunch too if you'd want?"

"There's a few people that don't like flowers though. Those with allergies. I used to know a few like that," Jonathan points out, before he smiles at what's being said, listening in quiet for now.

Isolde puts her phone back in her pocket after a short exchanging of text messages, a little smile crossing her features briefly. "All good flowers. I will have to look and see what I can find. I want a rainbow of flowers." Or a flower that was colored like a rainbow. That would also be acceptable. But was probably much harder to find and out of her already small price range. "Allergies are no good. If they make you not like flowers." She mused to Jonathan. Focusing on Lyric again. "Maybe. Lots of things can happen between the now and the future. In the now, you get waffles." She slid Lyric her menu. "Pick the waffles." Because there was probably a few different options really..and she didn't have to get waffles.

"Flowers really have to be good, if people have allergies maybe they can take allergy medicine." Now Lyric is just teasing Jonathan. "Are you allergic, Jonathan?" Curious about that. Reaching for the menu she opens it and sees the many options before placing an order. "Pecan waffles look good. With melted butter and heated syrup." That's the extent of her order and she closes the menu as the waitress takes the order. "Thank you," she tells Isolde.

Jonathan shakes his head a little, with a smile. "No, I'm not allergic," he replies, with a brief chuckle. Smiling a bit as he listens, he checks something on his phone, then looks back to the other two. "The pecan waffles here are quite good.

"

Isolde nodded in approval of Lyric's choice of waffles and took a couple bites of her own. "You're welcome!" Is added, though rather delayed. "I might try them next time." She pushes a hand through her hair and then reaches for the cocoa to take another drink from the mug. The server gets motioned so she can ask for a box while carefully counting out some money to cover both her meal and Lyrics. "I need to get the flowers now. Have a good day you two!" Offering them another bright smile before she would pile what was left of her waffles into the box.

"I'm glad you're not allergic." Lyric leaves the water on the counter for the moment and the waitress comes by to refill the glass. It's then she realizes Izzy was leaving and she smiles for her. "Have a good day too. I hope to see you again soon. Thank you again."

"Me too," Jonathan replies, finishing up the last of his own food, before he smiles to Isolde. "You too. It was nice to meet you." Watching her leave, before he looks back to Lyric.

Just then her own food arrives and Lyric digs in as if she hadn't eaten in awhile. After a moment she looks up and smiles, tilting the hat at a jaunty angle. "Tell me about your day?" she questions before going back to eating as she listens.

Jonathan grins, "You know, back when I played in juniors, you'd have to do some push-ups if you kept the hat on while eating..." It's offfered rather lightly, before he shrugs a little. "My day? Not too much. I woke up, then went for a walk, then stopped here for some food. All in all a good day, especially since my head wants to stay in one piece today." Another smile is offered, "And yours? Aside from having the job interview, that is."

"Would I? I wonder if I could do push ups. You could teach me couldn't you?" Lyric removes the hat and slides it back to where it was when she picked it up. Leaning in, she brushes a kiss over his forehead, unless he stops her. "I'm glad your head is better."

Jonathan smiles, "If you want me to teach you, I'm sure I could do that, yes," he replies. Not doing anything to stop that kiss, he smiles. "I'm glad it is as well. Hopefully it will stay that way, right?"

"I think it will. I mean I hope it will. That would be really good." Lyric returns his smile. "If you have a membership at the gym in town then we could learn there. Or out by the beach tomorrow, rain or shine? Maybe that would be more fun."

Jonathan smiles again, nodding a bit. "Out by the beach sounds good. Always nice to work out outside when it's the summer." He nods. "It's a deal, then."

"Deal." Lyric smiles and reaches for his hat, placing it backwards on his head before leaning in to whisper in his ear. "It looks much better on you."

Jonathan smiles as the hat is placed on his head, before he raises an eyebrow as he hears that whisper. "Oh? Did you see how good it looked on you, then?" He grins a little. "I suppose a great hat looks good on everyone, hmmm?"

"I guess you liked it, since you took a picture." Lyric takes a few more bites of her waffles, finishes them off and following them with water, sighing with contentment. "Meet you at the beach tomorrow morning then?" She looks at the hat and grins. "It's a great hat. A great team."

Jonathan grins, "Sounds good." He smiles, nodding as he hears her words about the hat and the team. "True. I think the team will always hold a special place in my heart."

"It should." Lyric says softly. "Are you going home from here or would you like to come over? You live with your parent's right?" Not really sure.

Jonathan shrugs a little. "I hadn't really decided on where to go from here. I thought I'd just enjoy the day." A pause, and he nods, "I live with my parents, yes." A smile is offered. "If you're asking me to come over, that sounds good."

"I am." Getting to her feet, Lyric offers her hand out to him with a playful smile. "Ready whenever you are."

Jonathan gets to his feet, taking the offered hand. "Lead the way," he replies, smiling in return.
