Text

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: Miss Winslow?

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: Hi. How are you?

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: Much better. And yourself? Are you well?

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: I... think so. It helps that I backlogged a to-do list while violent and useless, occupied is good. Trying to find decent shop help, though, harder than surviving this town, somehow. Go figure.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: I really like Isabella. I'm glad you have each other so you don't get eaten up inside by the bulk of all these things we live.

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: I can agree with that. Having a list is a good thing. What happened to the girl who was keeping things for you before? Get tired and fire her? And I like Isabella, too. I'm glad you approve. ::smiley face emoji::

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: I should have fired her for both our sakes, but I liked the apathy like a baseline in some weird way. But ah. I hurt her during... before the burial and she got sent to the hospital. Thankfully doesn't understand or remember much, but... her arms...

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: Oh. I'm so sorry. 🙁

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: I didn't really care at the time, but it's starting to sink in how... dirty it felt from the inside. But I understand you had problems to fallout with too, so it's... I mean, the fact that I wasn't alone in being screwier than usual is helping me cope some, I guess, you know?

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: I had an interview yesterday with a guy that could be taught to be good, but he... came so blitzed high and... I mean, I don't know what to do with that.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: I force sobered him because it was so much in him, I'm not sure how he was moving. Rude, but... so is showing up for an interview that way.

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: Nasir. Yes. He mentioned. Not about the force sobering.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: Yeah. The only reason I am even debating charity casing him with some tough assery like I lived my life doing for Hank is... guilt over the bridge and how Hank ended up, I guess. I don't know. I'll figure something out and call a temp agency again in the meantime while thinking.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: Hey, I... what do you think felt different after the burial?

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: I'm not sure. The world feels smaller now. Closed in? Quieter. I haven't tried to do much of anything - I'd like to avoid any attention from Over There for a bit. Was getting ridiculous. But it feels different.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: Yeah. It's odd. I've tried not to think on it too much, and I'm adjusting enough to notice it less, probably but it's... hm. Like being in a compressed underwater bubble instead of open space somehow? On a less tangible level, though.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: What did Margaret mean with the stuff she was saying, do you know?

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: Not a bad way to put it. The Old Lady? She thinks we don't know anything, that we meddled in things we're too incompetent to deal with, and that we fucked it up in the bargain.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: I guess we could have, but really, people that rub that in after the fact instead of just saying what they know to maybe, oh, prevent or adjust that need punched. I am not above punching an old lady.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: I guess I'll refrain, though.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: What did you put in the box? A book, if I recall? Day is heavy to remember details.

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: Yes, it was a book. I got it from a friend who's gone, now. The book is actually the reason I ran into Thorne again, the reason I met Isabella. A lot of things.

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: What about yours?

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: A vial of Hank's ashes and the pendant of my mystery mother he always kept with him that came back from the morgue. I never had anything of hers or knew anything, so it... I didn't want to put him in there alone, so I gave up my only piece of her too so he wouldn't be.

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: That was very kind. I'm sorry.

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: I have a question.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: I'm sorry you had to give too. But at least... you have what's remaining that's good for you (like Isabella) from it in absentia.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: Okay. Ask.

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: Do you know how I could get in touch with Alistair Carver?

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: And I'm not sorry for me. I chose. I wanted to try and help. That was the price.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: Things are definitely better to give and lose than people.

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: Yes.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: And Carver? Oh. That'll be a fun talk, I bet, with you two, whatever it is.

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: Will it?

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: I've only talked to him once in texts lately, but I have his number and he just bought a house on bayside.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: I don't know the exact one, but he said it used to be a doom prepper's place and is fairly modest?

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: Considering I thought he was a drifter hobo, him being a homeowner now is... well, okay. Good for him, I guess.

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: I can narrow things down from there. Would you be willing to give me his number? I promise, not interested in causing him harm or distress.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: You should know, though, being you and liking direct questions and answers... he probably won't do things that way. You have to read between lines with him if you're after something you think he might know about weird.

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: That's fine. Thank you for the warning. I'm just trying to find him.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: (Passes Carvers phone number along in text)

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: Thank you, again. 🙂 Let me know if you need anything that I can help with.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: Welcome. If I find any bodies in my dumpster, I'll let you know first like a hot scoop. It is Elm.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: But maybe it'll be a little quiet for just a little bit while we find places to put all these other things inside. There was a lot since summer. Hoping, anyway.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: Enjoy your getaway with Bella when you guys get it.

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: Quiet is what I'm hoping for. And there's still, like, 80% of that guy's body floating around somewhere, so don't even joke. But do call me if it turns up.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: Oh. Well hell. That's a large percentage of body. I will.

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: Gray Harbor. Gotta love it. Or set it on fire.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: I am explosively good at fire, don't tempt me.

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: Probably better not to burn the town down while we still have stuff here.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: Probably. I like stuff.

(TXT to Lilith) Alexander: Stuff can be somewhat important. Anyway. Take care, and thanks for the number.

(TXT to Alexander) Lilith: No fuss. Be safe as can be for a while. And... thanks for taking care of Byron during that dream with... his father. He doesn't always show gracious but... you know. I am.
