(TXT to Lalo) Mariah : How are things going?

(TXT to Mariah) Lalo : Hey mama. Busy busy, but finally got some downtime. Whatcha doing?

(TXT to Lalo) Mariah : Heya, I'm alright. Just feeling under the weather. Trying to finish the last 30 at work.

(TXT to Mariah) Lalo : Uh oh 🙁 Come over here when you're done, I'll make you some soup.

(TXT to Lalo) Mariah : I don't want to risk giving you a cold or something with your work, are you sure?

(TXT to Mariah) Lalo : Don't worry about it. I get exposed to worse every day, I'm good 😉

(TXT to Lalo) Mariah : I will head that way then. I've got kleenex and stuff. Just need to make sure the bar is closed and then go from there.

(TXT to Mariah) Lalo : Sounds good. See you soon :*

Mariah wasn't one to be needy, but then again she usually didn't get sick either. There's a knock on Lalo's door about 20 minutes past the time that the bar closes and there's a very tired looking blonde standing there when he opens the door. She wasn't wearing any makeup and her hair is in a messy, but fashionably bun. She has her back pack and a bag from the pharmacy with her cold meds with her.

When Lalo opens the door, the smell of what is probably chicken soup can be smelled even from outside. He smiles when he sees her, and he leans forward to give her a hug -- a concession, perhaps, to the fact that she's sick, and so he probably shouldn't be actively trying to get sick while working in a hospital. Though of course, she's here, so it isn't as though he's not being exposed. "Hey, mama," he says as he lets her in. "Is it a bad compliment to say that you look better than I bet you feel?"

Mariah looks up to him with a sniffle and there's a smile as she is hugged and she reaches out to hug him close. She then lets him lead them in. She gives a chuckle, "I'm glad that I look better than I feel. Just don't want to give you this cold." she tells him honestly as she settles the bag on the table. "How has work been?" she asks him.

"Yeah, I'll have to call out of work. That'll be terrible." Lalo grins as she steps inside, shutting the door behind her and starting toward the kitchen. "Pretty good," he says. "More or less. Just the same old shit, you know? Made a new friend, though, so that was nice. That dude who writes the advice column, you know? Ask Iggy." His voice can still be heard through the kitchen doorway as he disappears, presumably to bring some soup.

"Oh I see what the plan was. Get off of work with the sick girlfriend." Mariah teases him as she starts to unbundle. She was happy to be in and be warm. "Someone is going to open tomorrow. Just doing me a favor so I can rest." she tells him. "And yeah, I have seen Ignacio around. He's a pretty nice guy." she states. "Did you ask him what to do when a young blonde won't leave you alone?" she asks.

"Exactly." It doesn't take too much longer for Lalo to reemerge, this time with a very large mug with a spoon in it. "I always eat soup in a mug," he admits as he starts toward her to give it to her, "so if you don't like it, well...sorry, this is my house." This is said jokingly, though, and he sits down on the couch, letting out a little snort. "I didn't," he says. "Think I should've?" It still sounds a little teasing, though.

Mariah smiles at Lalo when he returns with the mug, "It's fine, baby." she tells him. "My aunt would give me soup in a mug, so it's a rather welcomed sight." she states. Then she looks to him as she blows on the hot soup for a moment. "You should have. Be like 'Ugh, there's this adorable little blonde that is annoying and needs attention.'" she winks at him. "Thank you for taking care of me." she adds softly.

Lalo scoots over to put an arm around her, replying, "Good. 'Cause I think it heals better if it's not in a bowl. And you know I know what I'm talking about since I'm in the medical field." He has to let out a snort, though, at her next words. "When I see him next time, I'll tell him," he promises, though the expression on his face doesn't match the words coming out. "What are boyfriends for, if not to take care of you a little bit?"

Mariah snuggles into his side as she eats her soup. Apparently she's happy to eat and listen to things. "Definitely wouldn't second guess a medical professional, nope." she grins to him. Then there's a bit of a sage nod, "He'll tell ya how to get rid of her." she teases him. Though his last words make her blush, "Well, I try not to be needy or dependent, but this is nice." she admits. "How have you been? Is Mattias doing alright?" she asks him.

"Good." As for her being needy or dependent, Lalo lets out a little scoff. "Let me just tell you that if you see me getting sick, I'm gonna be way more needy and dependent than you. You know doctors and nurses are the worst patients, right? There's a reason people say that." He smiles, and while it fades a little bit at her last question, it doesn't disappear completely. "He's okay," he says, a little more slowly than before. "Had a couple bad nights in a row, but it seems like we got him on a better track now. He says hi." She may not have met Matias, but clearly she's been a topic of conversation.

Mariah gives a smile to him, "I will be here to take care of you when you get sick. Won't bother me any." she tells him. "And I've heard a rumor about Nurses being horrible patients. So I'll just make sure to where one of those little nurse outfits so you'll be distracted." she teases him with a wink. Then there's a bit of a nod, "I'm glad you got him back on track. When you see him next tell him I said hello as well." she smiles softly to him.

This assurance brings a laugh, louder and more free than the others thus far. "Well, now you're basically begging me to get sick," he warns her, as though this is now going to be a given. "In fact, come here." He leans over to kiss her, and while it is just on the cheek, it does linger a little bit. When he pulls back, he continues, "Thanks. I'll let him know. Probably need to meet him soon, huh? Maybe we can all hang out sometime, if you want."

Mariah gives a soft smile to him, "I mean, if you did get sick I'd have to back up my word." she admits. She'd do it as well. Then there's a giggle as he kisses her and she seems content to be there. "I'd love to meet your brother. So whenever you'd like to do that just let me know." she admits.

"You would," Lalo agrees, his grin widening just a bit again at that. "So I'll let you know in a week or so when I'm gonna need that to happen." He reaches over for the remote to turn on the TV, but the volume is kept low so that they can still talk easily. "I'll let you know. Once things settle a little more it ought to be a good time. We were talking about going bowling or something."

Mariah gives a chuckle to that, "You let me know. I'll be ready with the day and night off and I'll take care of you." she winks to that. Then there's a soft nod as she takes a bite of her soup and listens to him, "Bowling sounds fun." she admits to that. Once she's done with the soup she settles the mug down on the table and then snuggles into his side to watch tv. But her eyes keep closing as she's tired.

Maybe some sleep would do them good.
