It was*pretty much* the time Ignacio had texted her to meet. The weather wasn't the greatest, and for someone without a car, that meant walking or waiting for transportation. Looking a bit harried, a bundled up gamer shoves her way through into the coffee shop.
She was dressed pretty normal today, with some understated, almost professional looking clothes, the sort off look that blended in well in a coffee shop. Over one shoulder is a simple messenger bag, the way her body leaned to compensate betraying it was likely weighed down by a computer. She unwinds a long green knitted scarf and a wooly beanie as she looks aroundfor Ignacio.
Ignacio has set up camp and seeing Abitha show up smiles and points with the back of his stylus to the coffee people. Barista he's certain is a Spanish word to mean 'Coffee Angel'. "Heat. Food. Sustenance. I got you." Gamer needs food badly." Yes he went for the Gauntlet reference as he types some things out. Man he's in a pretty good mood today. "How's work going other than 'is work'?"
Raising a finger, Abitha makes as close to a impression of a meme as she can, "I understood that reference." She drops her warmer outer layers and bag in a chair at Ignacio's table, then wastes little time retrieving a triple hazelnut latte from the helpful baristas. She slides back into her seat after a sip, crossing her legs and getting comfy, "I got the luxury of doing pretty much exactly what I enjoy doing, and the money supports it." She shrugs, jutting a lip out, "So I know better than complaining. You? Did you stop getting injured and leaving your fans devoid of your wit?"
Ignacio lets that half-grin hang and finishes up whatever he was writing to focus on the alive person in front of him. His hand wraps around his mug for the warmth and admits, "Caught that did ya? Eh got caught in the ice storm. You can imagine how easy it was for me walking through it. Burned out my motor." Easiest explanation.
The story about doing what she loves lets the grin settle in, "Good. We need more of that. Also why I'm glad to give you the shout out in the paper. Fuck knows we need some good news." Curious he asks, "Find anything interesting yet?"
Abitha grins as he mentions his post including her in the paper, "I wanted to tell you thanks for that. I know brick and mortar gaming shops aren't that profitable, and I've got other revenue streams, but it's definitely a help. So thank you." As to his question, he earns a shake of the head from her, "And nothing yet. You only sent me an email. I wanna know what you know. If this is a big, shady company, I wanna know what I'm getting into before I get me and my friends wrist-deep in the cookie jar." She sips, letting out a warmed breath happily, crossing her arms as she looks across the table at him, "Plus, you said you had more details. An email only gives us a domain. A website or some employees gives us ournown social engineering angles and we can be more prepped before we make a run at them."
(TXT to August) Ignacio : Hey, At Elli Coffee Place. Talking with friend that is looking into this FCN thing and says the email is a domain. We got a website or something we can look into?
(TXT to Ignacio) August : no, just that email. well, thorne found one, for 'fcnit' in maryland, but it didn't sound like the same group.
Ignacio pulls out his phone and starts texting like is his Milinneal super power. He murmurs, "Well it looks like someone else on the issue found something for FCNIT in Maryland that doesn't seem to be the same group. Hard to say so finding out who this is or how to get a hold of them might be step one. AND... I can help you comp any expenses if there are any. Also advertising which I'd do anyways. Also provide food for your crew caaaause I can't jog but I can cook the shit out of some chicken empinadas." he is proud of this factoid. Oh yes.
Shaking a finger at Ignacio, Abitha grins, "Might take you up on that." Finally pulling her bag up, she opens it and pulls out a small laptop. Setting it across her legs, she powers it on and starts to take notes. "Ok, so assuming that's just some googling, do we have a company name besides FCN? Like that's clearly an acronym, but for what? And what were they asking for and handing out? Do you have any pictures of their people?" Abitha is rapid fire, using the same tactics for investigating video game leaks for validity... Or the occasional doxxing of racist or sexist assholes.
Ignacio cracks a grin shaking his head "Hey they haven't taken that from me yet." Sitting back in his chair his fingers lace atop his head and he considers, "Uhhh from what I heard? Santa. From what that helps with. Big guy. Jolly. Killer sled that gets about 80 knots." Shaking his head, "I don't have anything beyond that but! Butbutbut we can inquire and I can get that intel back to you." He pauses and glances to the side and back "Woo. That felt all official and stuff."
"I mean, yeah." Abitha looks up as she pauses typing, "You're asking me to basically commit a crime because you got a bad feeling about some people." She takes a sip of her drink before replacing it on the table, looking over the top of her screen at him, "Like, I like you, Iggy, but it's real sketch. I don't mind doing it because we been through weird stuff, and this is more weird stuff. But by the same token, am I putting a target on my back? Am I gonna get picked up for espionage cause they're government? I'm just trying to get the info."
Ignacio considers and digs through his messenger back with a finger poised for pause,. Finding what he was searching for he pulls out a packet of soup. He sets it on the table. it's the veil flu soup. "This appeared in my brother's cabinet where I was living at the time. We didn't buy it. I think it come with a note but I don't have it. I had the complimentary collector's cold though and that... that was terrible. I think they're using Strange Means to do things. I mean it works. Maybe too well?"
He shrugs with a vague shake of his head, "It's the only thing I personally have to physically go on. But it's really weird and it's not illegal to do a public inquiry as to who a company is who is bypassing FDA regulations. Also if they're government then that's something and they would have to and need to be publicly listed. Even the government can't do something like human trials without a signed waiver so the only ones who can get in trouble would be them."
He pauses rolling his hand, "If that's even the case. But they are able to put healing in a bad and make another guy change his appearance with a pair of sunglasses and I think we should be asking why, or at least who." Blinking he sighs admitting, "I want to know people aren't being put at risk because we're too indifferent to ask. Bad things in history happen when we, as the populace, don't ask questions."
Abitha just stares at the packet, eyes slowly opening as wide as they go, a look that communicates almost abject fear, and also clear recognition. It takes her a moment to collect herself even to speak. This was a girl whose first manifestation of their powers was due to someone creeping on her and finding her in real life. These people had come into her home. "You... That's... That was them?" she starts to stutter, a whole whirl of emotions in her head from the realization. Until now, she thought it was just something someone who had renovated her space had left over during construction. This was much creepier. It meant they went past her shop's security, then her home's security, and left no trace.
And then comes the anger. Her brows drop to a dangerous V, her jaw setting, she finally looks away from the soup to Ignacio. After a few more brief notes, she slaps her laptop shut. She hands her contact card to Ignacio, the one containing all her social media and email info, in case he had anything else. "If they exist on the internet, I'll get you anything I can..." she says dangerously. If he doesn't stop her, she'd be stomping back off to home and the injured Asian hacker she had holed up there.
