Sunday evening had found Morrigan at home and she'd sent Devlin a text to see if he was working the night shift or not. If he wasn't, she'd requested his presence for a bit of a surprise. There work had kept them busy and with her job transition it was something she'd just have to get used to. So the door is unlocked while Morrigan is in the kitchen making hot chocolate and there is something else cooking. She's dressed in jeans and an oversized green sweater that hangs off her shoulder. Just a relaxing evening really.
There is a knock at the door and then followed by Devlin poking his head in, "Door's open.. it's me, hon." He then steps in and closes the door. Devlin removes his jacket, to hang it up. He then walks over to the kitchen with a bag holding several wine bottles. "Hi hon.. I brought a few bottles of wine.. two red and two white."
"About the door." Morrigan smiles as she turns to see Devlin coming in. Then there's a look to the wine he brings and there's a laugh, "Are you planning on drinking all of this tonight?" she teases him as she moves over to him. "I was making hot chocolate and sugar cookies...used to have them on cold miserable nights when my mom was still around." she admits. "How are you? I'm sorry work has been crazy." she tells him with a frown.
A bit of a chuckle on his part, "We can save these for later. Where do you want them?" Devlin leans to kiss your cheek. "Work is work.. I know you have been working hard to make the move. I've been pulling extra shifts over Stephanie's injury. Messing with dark things... she was lucky I pulled her out."
Morrigan gives him a smile, "Just on the counter is fine hon." she tells him. When Stephanie is mentioned there's a bit of a nod, "What did she get into now? Seems like there is always something wrong with her whenever she's brought up." she frowns to that. "One of these times you aren't going to be there to save her." she adds. "Which might be bad for her." she shakes her head.
Devlin shrugs, "Couldn't save everyone when I deployed.. Not something I liked. Learned to live with it. If she keeps rushing into things, she'll pay the price." He sets the wine on the counter. Good Italian Reds and Whites that would even be excellent for cooking with. "How are you doing?" He slips his arms behind you to snuggle for a moment.
"I get that, but it seems...it's convenient for you to save her? I don't know it's just really weird." Morrigan shrugs to that. "I know she's your partner and all and maybe she's just going through a rough patch, but I'm worried she's going to get you hurt in some way." she admits. "Thank you for the wine." she adds in tone that holds more warmth. "And...I got you something." she tells him as she loops her arms around his shoulders and kisses his cheek. "Figured since Spring is around the corner it might be a good time for it." she adds.
Devlin ahhs, "Oh.. presents.." He then reassures, "I won't let her drag me into something. Oh, I am going with Dr, Kosimar and friends to deal with a haunt of a serial killer. Mostly going to be support there. Though, not sure I will be better with healing yet. Mostly going to keep my head down and get stuff to the others to get the place burnt down."
Morrigan looks to him when he does comment on the Stephanie and there's a nod, "I don't mean to harp on it and I know she's your friend." she tells him. "But just...I don't want to lose you." she frowns. Then there's a quirk of an eyebrow, "Serial killer house?" she went from worried, to concerned in a matter of seconds, but there's no use in arguing. "Come and sit with me. There's hot chocolate and sweets and I'll grab your present real quick." she smiles to that.
Devlin follows you and then takes a seat, "I'll always play it straight with you on things like that." He then hmms, "Now that sounds very good.. Sweets, hot chocolate, and you.. that sounds like a perfect night in the making."
"I know, I'm not questioning you on anything. It's others I worry about." Morrigan chuckles. Then she moves to get a small box out of the drawer of her desk and then brings it back to him as she settles down on the couch on the couch. She hands it over to him, "Happy late Valentine's Day and early Saint Patrick's day." she grins to him.
Inside is a key on a green ribbon. Looks like a house key.
Devlin blinks seeing the key, "Oh.." he looks at you and smiles, "Really? and your sure?" He slowly picks it up, "I do recall you warning me not to get to used to having that nice apartment.. didn't you?" He leans in to kiss your cheek again, "Thank you."
Morrigan is quiet for the moment and then she looks to him and sees the smile. She nods to him, "Really. I mean...if it's not too soon? I know it's only been four or so months." she admits. "Apartments lose a sense of permanence most times and I mean...I'd rather be able to see you in the downtime we have from work and things and living together makes that easier?" she offers. "If you don't feel like it's...good timing I understand." she smiles to him.
Devlin smiles as he leans in to hug, "It's all good.. more than I could hope for." He hugs you close, "It does get lonely some times in the apartment. Especially after a very hard or rough day." He teases, "Mind you for meditation it rocks..."
Morrigan hugs him close, "More than you could hope for? What do you hope for, Devlin?" she asks him. "Were you expecting me to dump you around Valentine's Day or something?" she teases him. "But in seriousness, I don't know when your lease is up, but we can start moving your stuff in whenever you'd like." she tells him.
Hmmm, "We can start that soon. So.. a practice studio is something I will need. I have visited some of the local schools. No one teaching Tai Chi or Kung Fu... and I have not yet reached that point to teach with out another instructor incharge." He shrugs, "I know.. I can teach all sorts of first and second aide.. rescues and a host of things.. but can't teach my arts yet. Just the way things work is all." Devlin snuggles with you in his arms, "Shouldn't be too difficult to kill the lease. Either sublet or just pay the piper.."
"If you're meaning like a small private studio, I've got the sun room that I've not been using. It's nice and open, otherwise you might be able to find someone that's got space for rent downtown or on the outskirts." she admits. "Could help with that if you like." she adds. Then she snuggles into his arms and there's a smile, "I just didn't want you to get stuck with a horrible bill or something was all. I'm sure if it's close enough to the end of the lease they might be fine with it." she tells him.
"I'll have to give it a read. And I'll take a look at the sun room, if it is big enough, should work. Or.. I have a project." Que Devlin's wicked grin, "A few permits.. some DIY books.. expand the room a bit. May be even do some work on the deck.. I like to grill and I like smokers. You do have freezers."
"You can take a look and get a feel for things if you like. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to upgrade things. My dad could help you with expanding if you wanted to. This was the house that my mom and dad bought when they first got married. Dad had kept it until I was out of college and then signed it over since my brother didn't want it." she admits. "My grill doesn't get used enough, it's almost brand new." she chuckles.
Devlin says, "Sounds good. But hmm, just you and I here.. now." He waggles his brows, "So my temptress... what's next? And not work.. sharks.. swimming.. war stories... especially Stephanie... and the last dozen idiots that drove either of us bug nutz..."
Morrigan smiles to him, "Yeah, just us...and the dog." she muses. He was asleep though. "And I don't know, you wanna turn in for the night?" she gives him a wink. "I've got a few people testing for certs in the morning, but other than that I don't have a long day tomorrow." she tells him.
Devlin says, "Turn in.." He smiles, "And me without a shaving kit... sounds good"
