There's not a speck of dust anywhere at the gallery. Hera seems to pride herself on cleanliness, and because she finds the gallery often in need to straightening, she's taken more and more time to keep things in order. What is the hardest thing to do though is keep the cat hair off certain parts of the furniture and so, she gets a dustbuster of sorts. She knows that Julie might be coming over, and if not, then she knows there's a reason to keep things straight in case potential students come in. Hans just sits back and watches but sure enough, he doesn't lift a paw to help clean. A dog is a dog after all.
Devlin has come in earlier, to take a long break from work. Still on duty as far as a large callout is concerned, he is in uniform. Radio on his belt with the speaker/mike hooked to his shoulder and set low enough not to be a bother and yet still hear the traffic. He's getting coffee, "Well, you saw how clean my place is." He teases, "Not a pit.. huh?" of course teasing over the messy bachelor stereotype.
There is the door opening. In walks a blonde girl with red stripes through her hair. She isn't Alisha's twin, but looks very similar to her sister. If her sister wore a pink unicorn shirt and blue jeans, as well as looking like she is sixteen at best. While Julie was meaning to come to the gallery, Ali made it a command. The strawberry blonde looks over the place, having a healthy respect for the paintings and other artwork. Looking over to the animals first with a smile. Leaning over to tap her knee towards Han's "Aren't you a good boy." before looking up to the red head "Are you Hera? Like in the goddess?"
Glancing over to Devlin and his, in her mind, lack of style. "Guys can't keep a clean place. It is known!" she grins at him. "Are you the Ninja EMT that Ali mentioned? Just kidding she didn't call you a EMT." she says playfully.
Hera playfully winks at the young lady and says, "Sometimes. I dabble more in art than might and divine influence though and he is a good boy. Do you like pets?" A good question to maybe get a conversation started, "And Devlin's place is not that bad, not bad at all. Would you like a soda?" She offers to Julie.
Over that cup of coffee as Devlin takes a sip, he does a very good Spock Eyebrow raise. "Nor am I a ninja. That is Japanese. My training is in Chinese Martial arts known as Kung Fu and Tai Chi." He is rather dead pan at first and then he takes on a warm tone, "Alisha's sister, I presume." he winks a bit, "I happy to be one of the best Paramedics in Town, if you get hurt in an accident or something else; I am the person you are hoping that comes to your aide." He then grins a bit, "And if you worry about if I am sane or not.. Well I did jump out of perfectly good aircraft in the middle of the night." And with that the grin widens to a smile.. actually a nice one..
Julie nods her head "I do like pets. Ali wouldn't let me have one after this one time...eh you know what I shouldn't even mention that." she extends her hand to Hera. "I'm Julie. Ali said you were good people. I don't think she got being named after one of the awesome and cruel goddesses. She's a simple cop though." talking down about her sibling is just natural to her.
She smirks at the lifted eyebrow "You look just like Ethan Peck! Save the something or other and save the world." then laughing "Sorry I was kidding. She said you worked in the same department. And nope I'll not being hurt anytime soon. My father and sister drilled safety into my head." she blinks at the sanity comment. "Huh? Why would anyone jump out of a airplane." her mind then connecting the dots. "Oh you mean like serving our country?"
Sipping his coffee before answering, "Five Oh Four, Devils in Baggy Pants.. first Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd. Four tours over the twelve years I was there on active duty. I am a medic.. still am. I have a slot in the national guard over in Tacoma as on a Medivac team. As to my martial arts.. been training since I was a boy." Devlin smiles again
Julie doesn't know unit numbers. Still she gets the tours "Oh wow you are a medic? I'd love to hear about your experiences. I don't know if Ali mentioned anything, but I'm been in pre-Med for the last two years. Like really no one heard of getting college credits while still in high school." the high schooler, at least that is what she looks like, gazes over Devlin "Then thank you for your service." she doesn't speak to his training.
Hera politely extends her hand to the younger woman, allowing a shake if the occasion calls for it. "It is nice to meet you." She says and she looks between Devlin and Julie as they converse a bit. "Martial arts is always a good thing to take part in, always. I might want to consider some training myself. I rely on Hans a bit too much but, he's loyal." She tries not to blink when the teenager talks down about her sister. "Alisha talks of you all the time, she's quite fond of you, you know."
Devlin smiles a bit as he sets his cup down and gets up to come over to the girl. "I still serve, Just in other ways. So pre-med. Cool. Nothing like a good doctor when you need one. My job is to keep someone alive so that a doctor has the best chance to save their life with the least lasting damaging end results." He pauses, "Well.. that's at least close to what I do. I do know some great MASH surgeons too. If you have the aptitude and talent, they can help guide you." He holds out his hand to shake her hand. "Though one piece of advise.. find a semi-harmless vice you can be passionate about if you follow this path. You'll need it to get through some dark times."
Julie accepts the hand and gives a soft handshake. "It's good to meet you as well. The martial arts do sounds like good exercise. Nothing wrong with relaying on Han's for protection. Dogs are usually pretty good for that." she gives Hera a shrug "I know. Maybe I give her too hard of a time. I'm probably just really used to teasing her." the teen admits.
She glances over to Devlin as he comes closer. "Well technically pre-pre med. Getting a few courses out of the way before I officially start college. But it's cool that you still serve, at least help other people. That's what I want to do." she nods "I get that is what EMT's do. They are pretty important in my view. I am not too sure about taking the surgeon path and definitely not the military route. No offense, I'm just not cut out for that." when he offers his hand, she does shake his hand as well. "I guessed it wouldn't be easy. I at least have gaming to unwind with. So I don't think I'll need any other vices."
Hera continues on with the pleasant visit and she seems to relax a little when the teen admits to giving Alisha a bit of a hard time. After all, Hera thinks only good things of Alisha, even if the blonde cop should still go out to the movies with her. "I am really glad to hear all of that." She tells the young woman, "Getting an education is important. When I finally had the opportunity I reached onto it and I didn't let go. It served me well. Get the core classes out of the way and then everything should come naturally for you. I love the healing arts." she admits, "Very much but, I'm not formally trained in that. Trust me though, there's a clear need for people who help others. It doesn't end. If you need any help with the basic things, please let me know. You may not need the help but if you think you do, my door is open."
There is a chuckle on the part of Devlin about gaming as a vice. "Sounds good. Still, if you want to know more about being an EMT, I can arrange for you to meet with some people to get an idea about the job. I'd aim higher myself.. go for Paramedic or anything else in the medical field that appeals to you. In the end, that is what you want for yourself is what truly matters." He returns to his cup of coffee. "If your not happy with your job, then it will be worse than work." He sips his coffee. "If you want to hear about or talk to people in the military, just ask. The military is not for everyone. And don't forget there are several branches, each with it's own needs and challenges. As to more of a civilian side of things, I can reach out there too. Just don't ask me to reach out to L.A. let alone California."
Julie nods in agreement about the importance of education. "You didn't go to higher education right out of high school? What did you go to school for?" the teen seemingly pretty interested in hearing about Hera's experience. "I agree. I've been doing some of that with online courses. Most of my instructors really couldn't believe I'm as young as I am. I guess I just have a keen mind and study a lot. You know about medicine as well? I'd love to hear what you know. Most of my friends well, they just aren't interested. I totally think there is more need for those who help others. So is this place yours or do you just work here?"
"I wouldn't mind seeing what EMTs do on a day to day basis. Might be a good way to pick up a few things, if you or any of the people you work with are allowed to do ride alongs." she thinks about it and her sister really hasn't mentioned anything about. So maybe they can. "I plan to be a doctor though. Not really sure what field. Perhaps something in genetics or gene therapy. That sort of thing seems really interesting to me." listening to his advice "I'll try to remember that. I wouldn't to be unhappy and to be honest I don't from any first hand experience about medical work. Right now it's all theory to me. I honestly wouldn't mind hearing more about the military...it just isn't me. I'd never turn down knowledge though." before looking at Devlin with a inquisitive expression on her face "Okay now I have to ask. Why not L.A. or anywhere in California?"
A couple of sips of coffee are taken by Devlin, a pause before answering. "Short version, never under estimate a grieving self important politician." He manages to slip in before Hera answers Julie.
