This pricey loft apartment is a mix of industrial and shabby chic.. There are pipes visible in the uncovered beam ceilings, ventilation ducts visible here and there, and the flooring is stylishly mismatched in an unique patchwork of original wide plank pine barnwood floors in the living area, updated dark stained glossy hardwoods in the kitchen, and whitewashed greyish ash flooring in the bedroom and bathroom.
The living area has the exposed brick left unpainted with unfinished wooden cube shelves lining a wall, and old industrial painted desk supporting a widescreen television, a comfortable suede couch, modern armchair, old filing cabinet, painted oil drum, and wood and metal coffee table serving as surfaces. There is television, stereo, and video game console equipment in the desk cubbies. The dining table is made of an industrial kitchen counter, with a heavy weight gear system intended to raise and lower it for various dough rolling and packaging purposes. Metal chairs are set around it, and Edison bulbs hang from cords above for lighting.
The kitchen has a long white quartz counter with stools in front of it, and dark grey Swedish-style cabinetry with stainless appliances. Tucked into one corner of the open floorplan is a more modern desk, set up with a very high end computer system, large monitor, and various peripherals, clearly the 'home office'.
The bedroom has the exposed brick painted grey, white drywall on the window-side wall, and a glossy white headboard for the bed, which has a white duvet, and white and grey pillows. Wood shelves and dressers play off the wooden sliding barn door leading to the modern white and grey bathroom.

Rebecca's brother, Andrew, was able to piece together some bits of family history.
In 1952, their great-grandfather Kenneth changed his last name from Baxter to Carr, just before the birth of his son Daniel (Rebecca's grandfather). The family had already left the Gray Harbor area.
He also found old police reports filed in the mid-1960s when Daniel, now a teenager, was reported missing from the family home. He was eventually reported as a runaway, and was missing from late 1968 through mid-1970. He came home with a wife Lisa and his son, Edmund (Rebecca's father). The birth certificate for Edmund was filed at Addington Memorial Hospital in Gray Harbor.
So the suggestion is that their grandfather ran away from home, came to Gray Harbor as a teenager, and possibly lived with family? Rebecca and Andrew may both be able to remember their grandfather occasionally talking about how, when he was young, he worked in a funeral parlor owned by his cousin Mitchell Johnson.
Rebecca and Andrew would be able to learn that there was a Johnson Family Mortuary on Oak Avenue from the 1920s to the 1960s, when it burned down. Andrea (Andi) Johnson is a relative of these Johnsons.

Younger Sister (b. 1996 - d. 2019). Grad Student at Berkley, studying Law. Murdered in Rebecca's apartment by what is believed to be the specter of William Gohl.
My boss. I am the chef's personal assistant and he brought me out here after he relocated to Gray Harbor. I handle his day-to-day affairs so that he can focus on his art. He is someone I consider a friend. Especially after how he looked after my interests after my sister was murdered. I owe him.
My boyfriend's other lover #1. Fortunately, we get along fantastically, and both seem to have unique insights into Itzhak.
She is a great human, which is apparently distasteful to Margaret Addington. Which makes her even greater in my estimation.
My boyfriend's other lover #2. I haven't spent much time with her, but she seems nice, and he seems really taken with her. He took her home to NYC for Thanksgiving to meet his family.
Boyfriend. This is something, isn't it? Something insane. Trouble, he is totally trouble. Problem is, so am I. And when you put us together? Well somehow we started dating, though our relationship is an open one. This is all pretty new to me. I'm out of dating practice.

Rebecca Carr is not from Gray Harbor. She came here by way of Southern California, where she was the personal assistant to pastry chef Vyvyan Vydal. Vydal himself knows very little of her, other than she has a Business Administration degree and excels in her job of keeping his life and business orderly, so he can enjoy his art. He recently sent for her, having gotten established in town, so she can come organize his life in Gray Harbor. She's always had a flair for fashion, and has used it to write a blog on the internet about being fashionable on a budget. She also has a secret love of video games, which she hides for fear it would make people take her less seriously.
What he doesn't know, what no one knows, is that Rebecca Carr is really Rebecca Baxter, or would be if her family hadn't changed their name. She may be descended from the Gray Harbor Baxters, but she doesn't yet know this. She knows that her family may have come from the Washington town many many years ago, but they refuse to speak about it and her frustration with their silence has mounted over the years. She isn't sure what was done to the Baxter family back in the late 1800s, but she is here to find out, secretly.
She has felt drawn to go there recently, and it might have been her suggestions to Vyv that helped him decide to relocate. She has the Glimmer, but it has yet to manifest in a manner which she recognizes. She has always been good at 'reading people', which has made her excellent at her job. That it comes from a power is something she has yet to figure out.
Standing at 5'6", this young woman looks to be in her mid-20s, with blonde hair in a shoulder-length style and bright blue eyes. Her makeup and clothing are stylish and conservative. She's wearing an A-line black mini-skirt over opaque black tights, and a white, silk "pajama style" blouse with black piping, with high heels. Every detail, from jewelry to shoes, is impeccable.
