Tor
Wrong Side of the Tracks - Tor grew up around the criminal element of Gray Harbor. He has a good idea of who the players are and who he should avoid. His father was wrapped up in it before he left town, and his uncle is still wrapped up in things. He fences stolen goods, sometimes steals things himself and drives for criminals on occasion. He had a juvenile record for petty crimes, but that's been sealed and he hasn't gotten anything worse than trespassing on file since he came of age. He's still a definite person of interest to the police, however. Those who know him from high school would know him as a troublemaker who got suspended a couple of times, mostly for starting fights or smoking on school property - and a suspect in a few vandalism cases. Despite that, he graduated near the top of his class. He's also been trying to get out of the dodgier aspects of his family's business, but that sort of thing doesn't tend to let go easily.
Former Pizza Delivery Boy - He's a familiar face to most people in town from his years of delivering pizza for Pizza Kitchen. He started delivering as soon as he was old enough to drive. Sometimes he grabs a shift here or there, though it's more likely to be in the kitchen of the family-run business than driving these days.
Strange Harbor Brewing Company - Tor has started his own microbrewery while moonlighting as a bartender. He's got the support of Two if By Sea and took out rather large loans from some dodgy people to finance his startup costs. It remains to be seen whether he'll be able to make a go of it in the legit business world.
Blessed Be - His mother worked at, then managed at a new age shop that closed about six years ago.
Uber - Tor still occasionally delivers for Uber Eats and drives Uber proper in his 1964 cherry red Mustang he inherited from his uncle.
Heal for Hire - The word on the street is that Tor will patch you up, no questions asked in exchange for cash.
Tor Lockhart is a fairytale-ish name for a young man who is neither a Disney protagonist, nor has he lived a charmed life. His mother, Camilla Lockhart (nee Eriksen) was the black sheep of her family, marrying Christian Lockhart when she was only 19 and he was 23. Her family hated Christian, who was a high school dropout and whose family owned a pizza parlor. Camilla was a clerk at a New Age gift shop, and her family wanted her to go to school and make a life outside Gray Harbor.
Tor was born just six months after they married, which went some of the way to explaining the urgency of their union. That, and the young couple were genuinely in love - at first. Camilla's family fears turned out to be founded, and the couple divorced shortly after Tor's sister Natalie was born. He was only four years old. Despite his many flaws, Christian did love his son. He was just absolutely horrible with money and ran with a rough crowd.
When his grandfather passed away, Christian's older brother Mitchell inherited the pizza parlor. The brothers did not have a good relationship. Tor never knew what they fought about, but he does know that when he was 15, his father left town, ostensibly to try and find oil rig or logging work, only returning to periodically visit or send small parcels. His uncle felt bad for his part in his brother's decision to leave, so he hired the boy at the pizza parlor at first as a delivery driver, and sometimes chopping toppings. His uncle, it turned out, was not much better than his father. He was in deep with the local criminal element. So was Christian - he just wasn't very good at hiding it. So the boy grew up alongside crime, and he started with petty thievery and slowly learned how to fence stolen goods.
Meanwhile, his mother had become manager of the new age shop, Blessed Be, just as the whole subculture was in serious decline. It wasn't long before the shop went out of business, and his mother ended up working at the local grocery store. It was around that point that she reconciled with her family, who had been estranged for years. The side effect of his mother working at a new age shop for most of his childhood is that he discovered his abilities quite young,. His mind was always open to the possibility, and she was always encouraging him to meditate and to attempt to influence things with his mind. After a knock-down drag-out fight with another boy at school, his abilities manifested. He managed to move a bottle with his mind and smash it over the other boy's head.
What followed as an intensive period of experimentation and throwing himself into the vast library of new age books left over from the shop's closure. The new obsession with the occult didn't endear him to his classmates. He was always moody, sullen, prone to outbursts of violence and clearly up to no good. But he was also too smart for his own good, and his teachers lamented how he didn't have to try very hard to get a passing grade.
Which is why Tor never went anywhere after high school. Getting into college would have meant applying himself, even if he could afford to go. He had too much of a taste for easy money with his uncle's criminal connections. He was getting better at appraising and fencing items, drove for hours each day on pizza (and illegal item) delivery and still occasionally helped out in the kitchen. He has no desire to leave the town, because he knows he'll lose his powers - and he quite likes those. He tries to hide the fact that he can heal, because the last thing he wants to be is a nursemaid for criminals. It remains to be seen how long that will last.
Even the darkness he attracts with his abilities isn't enough to dissuade him. Maybe he has a GenX soul reincarnated, but he doesn't seem to be afraid of the things in the dark - even though he knows intellectually, he should be.
He's not very tall at around five foot night, slim of build and oh-so-scruffy. His haircut was a proper haircut at one point, but it's grown out to brush his collar. It's the kind of hair that would look mussed right out of the shower and stay that way. He has a light beard. Both hair and beard have traces of ginger, but are primarily light brown. All in all, he looks like a grunger who walked right out of 90s. He doesn't wear a plaid shirt around his vest, but he does wear a lot of denim and a beat-up old brown leather bomber jacket that looks at least as old as he is.
