Dylan
Grayscale is a comic that Dylan has recently created from inspirations from all around Gray Harbor and his own vivid imagination. It's best described as an action-comedy sort of comic, bordering on at times the surreal. It revolves around a group of anti-heroes who tend to fix problems without even meaning to. Set in an alternative reality, where 'super powers' aren't always exactly all that super or as amazing as traditional comics, it also involves dealing with the day to day life complications that spring up around the main and support cast of characters. The artistic style is more detailed than most comics, due to it being all in grayscale, save for rare splashes of color added in for impact.
He hasn't yet figured out production, but does have a Patreon setup for those who want to support him, and are rewarded with invite only opportunities to watch him draw. These often are pieces that don't make it into the comic, and are given out to random Patreon supporters as a reward.
Main Cast
Firefly
Firefly is depicted as a woman who typically dresses in rather revealing attire, and the splash of color on her person when drawn is in the eyes, a touch that makes them glow like that of a firefly. She works at a strip club, and has powers that manifest as a firefly glowing dust on her hands as she mesmerizes and lures in people around her.
Studio
Studio is the only one of the cast that is all in shades of gray and is an artist. She has tattoos from head to to, and is often dressed in clothes that have splotches of paint on them, coveralls or the like, with a style that is steampunkish in nature. Frequently sporting both goggles on her head and a steampunk like rifle and paintgun hybrid, it's the paint that fires from that weapon that gives a dose of colors to the scenes she is in.
Style
Style is always on top of it, in that 'Girl next door' kind of fashionable, and happens to be the local hair dresser in the town Grayscale is set in. As part of the 'questionable super powers' theme of the comic, she has control over peoples hair, which while great for her job, has creative applications in certain situations as well. She's often seen wielding a larger than necessary brush as a paddle, and a pair of scissors or barber's razor. Her splash of color is two fold, both in her blonde hair, and also in the blue tint to the fairy wings that sprout from her back.
Inquisitor
Inquisitor attends the local college, and she has a knack for getting anyone to talk and answer questions. Her splash of color is in the bright red of her lips and the golden halo over her head, which is visibly held up by a wire that is always slightly bent, despite her best efforts. She's often seen wielding a book with her, titled appropriately as: 'The Book of Questions'.
Issue 1
Issue #1 starts with creating the setting for Grayscale, set in Gray Cliffs, a town on the seaside.
The narration captions show that this was a world that had always been in monochrome, black and white and shades of gray. Until, that was, 30 years ago. It shows the town, and looming storm clouds that roll over it. Flashes of lightning happen... lightning in a brilliant, sharp yellow. Color.
The storm rolls over and into the forest. Lightning strikes the ground in a small clearing, and in the background? Some nefarious figure is picking up a machine, disappearing into the rainy night. As the storm dissipates, where that bolt and connected with the ground, a singular flower blooms... with purple colored petals.
The comic then fasts forwards to the modern day, an overhead view of a park. Four glimpses of color can be seen, each a person in the crowd, dispersed. (They are, of course, Inquisitor, Style, Studio and Firefly!) Suddenly, from the trees that are scattered throughout the park, small twigs and branches shed on the ground stitch together into two foot tall tree golem things. A fight ensues, reluctantly dragging in the four characters with those splashes of color to them, and the four anti-heroes vanquish their foes.
The first comic ends with the four of them in a bar, introductions made, chatting over what happened... and past problems they've had. The dialogue is quick and witty, in line with the more comedic style to set the tone for the setting.
Short 1
This short introduces Studio and Firefly as they get together to sneak into a backyard of people out of town to go swimming in their pool, seeking relief from a brutally hot summer day. It ends up with an invasion of crabs from the depths of the pools drain, with Firefly and Studio vanquishing them. The last shots end with crabs plastered to a wall by Studio's paintgun, and another floating helplessly in the air from Firefly's levitation, glowing like a little light bug, and both of them commenting with annoyance that even the wild life in this town is too handsy.
Short 2
This one introduces Inquisitor and Style as they hang out together at the bar after a rather long day. They end up in the middle of a bar room brawl that Inquisitor might have accidentally (purposefully) caused, and it ends with one of the bikers strapped down to the pool table like it's the rack and Inquisitor questioning him about what he's compensating for, while in the background behind Style another brawler who looks like an 80's metal hair band reject is dangling from a ceiling fan, his long hair wrapped around it.
Firefly. Unexpected surprises. Dance lessons. Thinks she's broke and bad, but deep down? It's what makes her good. Comfortable.
Nurse Smiley Clouds! Best bedside manner ever. Would let her check my stitches again (but I hope she never has to.)
Healed my arm in a way that I can't explain. Part scary, part attractive, part 'wtf'. Means well, even if she needs a dash of subtlety at times.

Hair Fairy. Style. Best stylist, good conversationalist. Saw some weird shit together, but has fallen silent.
High School Inquisitor. Full of questions and surprises.
Culinary Researcher. The mad scientist of food.
- He's quiet but expressive. In High School, one of the bullies favorite games was seeing who could make him say a word first. Now? Sometimes, people just enjoy the slow burn of getting to know someone.
- He loves art, and he's always sketching. He's never shy about showing what he is working on.
- He is known to do paintings, sculptures, and other mediums as well. Want a piece? He's happy to work on it.
- He attends college, focused on arts and anthropology.
There is something remarkable about Dylan's presence. It's in the expressive cast of his features, the way his brown hair is tousled and kept short to reveal all of his face. From pouty lips that create an equally brilliant smile, to bright blue eyes that can go as wide or squished as he wishes them to be to get his emotions across. He's tall and fit, and it's easy to pinpoint his age to his early twenties.
His clothing tends to run simple. Jeans and t-shirts, which might often have old paint stains that couldn't quite get washed out that complement the charcoal smudges frequently seen upon his fingertips.
