Jade Rivera grew up in a well-balanced household. Her father, Javier Rivera, is a street cop in the Seattle PD. Her mother, Katherine Rivera, is the head librarian at the University of Washington. She grew up the youngest of four, two older brothers and an older sister. Life was always interesting in the Rivera household. For Jade, instead of cheerleading or soccer, there were nightly range lessons with her father from the time she could steadily hold a 9mm Beretta. Her mother insisted on a form of classical extracurricular, so Jade picked up the guitar. Accoustic at first, she learned how to play everything from classic pieces to flamenco. Electric guitar came later. And then there were her brothers, always rough housing around and often including the girls in their matches. She became something of a sponge for random trivia facts around 12, able to spout off on a variety of topics.
And then there was her next door neighbor. Liam. They met when they were five and were practically inseparable after. It was from him she got her love of technology and the internet. So much you could do with it! While he grew fascinated with the front of the camera and got in quickly on the ground floor of the youtube video craze, then the whole Instagram and streaming thing too. Meanwhile, there was Jade, making sure everything was running in the background and cracking goofy faces at him from over the camera to see if she could make him break role. Right now the score is around 346 - 199.. in his favor. Yes, she keeps track.
During college is when they met their mutual friend, Nathan Grant. He keyed them into cryptozoology and the things that go bump in the night. They were like peas in a pod, as if they'd found their third Musketeer. All through college they would study together, hang out together, party together.. they'd even brought Nathan in on their streaming and had him doing an hour a week of his latest 'findings'. Then, the spring break before graduation, Nathan went home to Gray Harbor.. and never returned. They asked everyone they could, dug as deep as possible.. nothing. Now word, no trace. He was a Missing Person.
So of course, as soon as graduation was over, the pair packed up their stuff and headed out to Gray Harbor to find their third Musketeer. And maybe look into some of the weird things he claimed happened there too.
Over average height, with an athletic build, Jade has an intriguing look to her. She keeps her hair short in the back and on the sides, and just long enough on top for a cap of curls Shirley Temple would die for. Her skin is smooth, and a golden brown that shows her mixed heritage. With dark eyes under thick but neatly kept brows, there's a smattering of freckles across the cheeks and bridge of her nose, ending with a full mouth that displays a pout or smile with the same level of ease. She tends towards Seattle trends for clothing, everything from their beloved grunge/punk era to the new hipster fads sweeping through, even that retro vibe that's creeping back in!
