<FS3> Victory for You're My Snuggy Lumpkins Ev. (Rolled by: Thewlis)

The outdoor spots are on at full strength, stabbing into the winter night, turning the snow flurries into fluttering balls of light like the pixies of fairy tales swirling and spinning overhead. Parking spots set with colored gels have turned the lot into a feast of cheery color. The Marquee boards read the movies Sabrina, The Thing, and Drunken Master for the first, second, and drive in theaters. Above it all, the bright LED and neon threads of light animate in a streak upwards from the point of the wedge marquee, an animated explosion of tiny starts spreading across the face of the building and the word Starlight lighting up along the center of the upward streaks.

Cocoa is available outside as people go in, all seats have been sold or given to special guests. The concession stands churn out popcorn, candy, those big theater cups of beverages ranging from simple lemonade to icee drinks. Theater staff are dressed up as classic movie personalities - Jack Burton, Mina Harker, The Phantom of The Opera, Mattie Ross.

The theaters are clean, spotless, pristine even. The seat cushions soft and clearly designed for extended sitting, lights twinkle from the boxes, balcony, and ceiling itself. The glare blocks for the Drive-In screen festooned with similar sparkling lights on the outside edges, and smaller less intrusive lights are strung between the posts holding peakers for cars. Everything for the public is open to be toured, at least until the movies start, and in the center of the storm Thewlis has planted himself to watch the crowd from near the concessions.

Roxy Kivela, brand new owner of Dance Evolution is here in the lobby, distributing programs to the attendees. She's dressed for the occasion in a replica of Audrey Hepburn's little black sleeveless cocktail dress from Sabrina (https://i.imgur.com/DPfwdfU.jpg). It has a straight cut neckline with ties at each shoulder, a fitted bodice, and a flare skirt that falls below the knee. Black elbow-length gloves, pumps, and a fascinator complete the look. She greets every new arrival with, "Welcome to the Grand Opening of the Starlight Theater. Theater one will be showing Sabrina from 1954, theater two will be showing The Thing from 1982, and the drive-in screen will be playing Drunken Master from 1978."

Hera is, like many people, quite the movie buff. She walks in with Stephanie and chats with her as the two step inside. "I haven't seen The Thing in such a long time." she says, "This is the alien thing, the real thing comes by and molests my windows. He also has a crush on Nicole but she's too good for him. If he starts walking around with better hair I know what happened though. Speaking of what happened, where's Devlin, isn't he supposed to be coming tonight?" She continues to move forward, confidence in her stride, and she wears a white shirt, vest, and dark pants with high heeled boots. Yeah, high heeled boots are on the agenda. She never knows when she will want to kick someone 'who is in need of a haircut.'

But there's the phantom and she rushes over to the masked man, "Oh wow! The angel of music!" she tells Stephanie, "Come on, get your picture taken with him! Let's get him to dance with you!"

One of the movies playing is The Thing, so between coming home from the Veil with a pronounced like and a whole new fear of dolls, August figures he owes Eleanor a night out. Dinner at a modest place (the little surf and turf down in Hoquaim, for a change), then some ice cream, and finally, The Thing. He's dressed comfortably against the winter chill in a dark purple, cashmere sweater and denim jeans, with a heavy hiking boot on one foot and a dark red moonboot on the other. He walks gingerly in it, careful not to aggravate the injury.

Eleanor has an arm linked through August's, keeping an eye on his pain levels with worry in her eyes. "I can't believe you went back to that carousel. After what happened there the last time, I thought you'd never go near it again," she notes with an amused look. "So now worms and dolls are on the list of things never to bring around you." She's dressed up in a heavy cable-knit sweater, jeans, winter boots, and a warm coat.

Newly opened theater, showing movies from times before he was even born. It’s almost a perfect date night. Pulling his left arm out, Everett looks at his naked wrist before taking out his phone to unlock it check the time and messages. The biker isn’t dressed special, the only thing missing from his attire is the buck knife sheath. Outside the theater still, he leans against the building, returns the phone into the inside breast pocket and extracts Marlboro’s from a zipper as he gets unreasonably comfortable to wait for a date that’s never going to arrive. His face illuminates when the cigarette dangling from his mouth is lit by a chrome zippo, flicked shut and returned to his front pocket. The stick of death held between his two first fingers while he scans the crowd, looking for someone.

Jade is standing next to Thewlis, her arm tucked into his and smiling and greeting everyone that approaches. She's done up like Morticia Addams tonight in a black velvet gown that hides little despite the long sleeves and long skirt, though she's forgone any sort of 'pale' makeup and just gone with the dramatic eyes and lips. She smiles up at Thewlis and murmurs something to him before looking back to offer a warm smile towards Hera, free hand lifting in a wave.

Walking into the theatre with Hera, Stephanie listens to her friend as she explains the whole thing with the movie, and then her gripes with Everett (she was assuming) and him having a crush on hair stylist Nicole. The question of where her cousin was paid Stephanie pause for a moment. "I didn't know he planned on coming. I put it out there while we were on shift that this place was opening and he said he might check it out." Wearing a pair of black jeans and a navy blue sweater, her long hair in a ponytail, her winter jacket in hand, she follows Hera as they walk into the Lobby, her Doc Martens marching on across the floor. When Hera mentions getting her picture taken with the Phantom, Stephanie plays along with a smile. She is trying to be more social, and this is how it goes sometimes.

Perhaps running a few minutes late, Devlin does that fast walk, pause for door, and enter walking normally bit. He takes a moment to see what is in each theater as he makes his way towards the concession. He nods to himself as he sees how nice things are.

Costume clad staff happily pose for pictures with guests, even the one normally mopey, token goth teenager seems to be getting into it. Even though concessions can be purchased as normal, little boxes of goobers, raisnettes, twizzlers are being distributed at random - classic movie candies.

Show tickets are being checked, and for some people (apparently there were descriptions or pictures for staff) such as Hera, Devlin, and even August (whom Thewlis spotted on entry from his place elevated near the concessions) whom he recalled from a very specific house. With horrifying things that had been found. These special guests being given passes for the private boxes if they're going inside, or special concessions vouchers if they opt from the drive-in

Thew himself is doing his best to keep calm, and stands as Gomez to Jade's Morticia. Even his beard has been shaved off, and only the pencil moustache remains, a dark gray with black stripe suit draped on him and his hair slicked back from his brow ala the styling of Raul Julia. He raises his hand, as well, to people he knows - and to others who know him the smile on his face is a rictus to hide the sheer panic the rest of his body is struggling to conceal as people come up to shake Jade or his hands if they pass by.

Roxy smiles warmly to customers as they filter in, each given a commemorative program to mark the grand opening. In the back are local advertisers who had ads placed to pay for the program's costs, including one for Dance Evolution, which is reopening under new management shortly.

As Hera is distracted by the costumed folk, Stephanie notices Devlin go by and she calls out to him, "Hey, Dev! Glad you made it!" She heads over to see him. "Hera got me to agree to watch The Thing with her. She's just over there." She gestures towards the costumed staff.

"I hadn't planned on getting on it again," August admits to Eleanor on a sigh. His foot's a little achey, could stand to be elevated with ice tonight. But nothing serious, nothing that won't mend if he stays out of trees and off it. He blinks at the voucher, smiles a thanks to the staff. Spying Thewlis, he holds up the voucher and nods in thanks, then makes his way to the concession stand. Peanut M&Ms, popcorn, and water are a must.

Eleanor kisses August's cheek. "I know, I know, things just happen in this town," she murmurs to him. She adds snowcaps and a cherry icee to their order with a grin. "How is the final proof of the book looking?" she asks him with a small smile as they wait.

Hearing someone call out to him, Devlin turns toward the voice, "Hi Stephanie. Looks like a pretty nice restoration to judge by things. Should be a fun night." He then gets a soda and popcorn at the stand. "Nothing like the ol'e stand bys."

Hera giggles as she gets some 'phantom wanna be' to take her by the hand and dip her, as if it was that hard to do. She's clearly having a good time and, all in all, it's for the fun of it. She then stands up straight and rushes back over to Devlin and Stephanie. Her eyes do fall on Everette though and she looks like she's about to say something but, he's dateless, so for now she shuts up, at least until she reaches Steph and Dev, "The Thing is going to get a lip cancer smoking those." She tries not to bounce up and down too much but she's clearly happy. "I had a great chat with Harper today, now I'm going to the movies with some of my besties. We're going to see The Thing right? PLEASE?" At the mention of please she begins to scroll through her phone at some pictures.

<FS3> Thewlis rolls Reflexes: Failure (4 4 2) (Rolled by: Portal)

<FS3> Everett rolls Alertness: Good Success (8 8 6 6 2 1) (Rolled by: Thewlis)

Stephanie glances as Devlin as Hera joins them and she says, "Sure, we can watch The Thing, unless you have any objections, Dev." She goes to grab a large popcorn and orange soda for herself, as well as some Milk Duds.

Dance Evolution actually has a prime spot among the places for advertisement - and there are even notices announcing The Date Night Deal - offering reduced ticket cost for the theater for show tickets purchased with the dance session, either before or afterward. Bouncing Hera.. she's a distraction for some of the staff. But... you know, they can deal with that. Thewlis clings to Jade, trying to be unobvious about it at least.

Outside, the big smoking man can make out a predator in the crowd. Having left her Delta 88 in one of the far spots. Realistic designer imitation heels, pleated skirt, nice winter jacket with fur trim at the wrists and collar, a pillbox hat worn to one side of a far to expensive hair do and makeover designed to make her seem low forties and not mid fifties. The smile is just as much a veneer. Her eyes are flint, teeth bared not exposed.

She weaves through the crowd without being pushy, but her eyes are on the lookout for one thing, thankfully not Everett.

Roxy looks to Thewlis and gestures to indicate she needs to go change her outfit for the movie presentation. She hands off the programs to the Phantom to continue distributing and disappears into the staff area.

Hera scoffs as she says, "Don't bet on it, seriously. These boots look good on me but they would look better on your ass. Speaking of which trying to get someone to clean my windows now is a nightmare but, there's something else you really need to be aware of. That smoking, it's gross!" She then goes over and tries to shove this image in Everette's face, assuming she can get close enough to do so. "See! This is lung cancer! This is what's going to happen to you!" Sure enough it's the trademark picture of The Thing showing its teeth in a man's chest. "You better watch yourself buddy, seriously." Speaking of watching, there's a predator? What predator? She always has beef with Ev it seems, and it's not the type you get at the store.

Waiting until close to curtain time, Everett gets increasingly annoyed as the minutes tick by. People watching, waiting for his date not to arrive, until there’s something else.

Another shark in the water.

Without attempting to be obvious, the gorilla absorbs details and then lets it, her, pass. Give her a few ticks and then with another peek at his smartphone to check the time, he mumbles “Fuck it,” with his deep cadence. A casual glance is given towards traffic where his lit cigarette is flicked casually, turning to head indoors before it has fallen to the ground. Ducking under the doorjamb, Everett pays more attention to whom gives him the program until he’s able to find a trash receptacle for the program, then makes his way for concessions, leaving the outside snow to slowing melt and trickle down his scalp. Leaving room for the other prowler.

Devlin nods, "Sounds like fun. Once went to a midnight madness with a bunch of friends over in Fayetteville to watch some classic horror movies." He then makes a bit of a turn towards Hera's direction, "And there's Hera.. full head of steam too it seems.. life may get interesting. Glad I still carry a bag in the Rubicon."

"Final proof came out fantastic. I'll bring it by if you want to have a look before I send it back." August pays for the refreshments, opting to save the voucher or give it as a gift. (Does Isolde like movies? Alexander?) He gathers up his water and M&Ms and relies on Eleanor to lead them, since with his hands full and a sprain he's not so equipped for that just now. Giving her a sidelong glance, he oh-so-casually continues, "Got an idea for the next one. Shorter project, I think I can get a right draft done by summer."

Stephanie glances in Devlin's direction. "You would think that hanging out with us would temper her a little," she comments with a chuckle, "Guess not." She grins at Devlin still having a bag in the Rubicon and adds teasingly, "You're such a Boy Scout. I guess you really don't know what off-duty means, do you?"

Thewlis nods as he is whispered to, shaking a hand, and then leaning against the young woman who is by his side. He doesn't see what Everett is letting in, but he does see Thick Legsmash on the move, recognizing his from the bar and giving Jade's hand a frantic squeeze.

Eleanor leads the way towards theater 2, with a brow arching at August curiously. "What idea is that? Good to see you being so inspired to write," she notes, her eyes glimmering with pride in his authorship, She slurps her icee and makes a happy noise. "I haven't had one of these since I was a kid," she points out.

"If you mean by my being prepared yes.. otherwise.. not a boy scout." Devlin answers Stephanie as he waggles his brows. "Hang out with some Grunts when they are out to tear up the town after two or thee weeks in the field.. you'd do the same. And you would be surprised at how suddenly joint locks do not have the desired effect on drunks." As he gets closer, "Hey Hera.. having fun?"

Jade just smiles up at him, motioning him down to her level so she can press a kiss to his cheek. There's a small chuckle for the lipstick print left behind on his skin, and she says casually, "This is going really well, Thew. Look at everyone smiling and enjoying themselves. How long do the movies run for again? Two weeks? Or three? I'm already looking at some more classics that we can show. As soon as the weather turns nice again, we're showing Grease on the drive-in screen, right?"

Hera may of may not have been able to get Everette's attention with the dreaded image but it seems she has the role of being the 'fifth wheel' along with Devlin and Stephanie. "Yeah yeah I'm coming I'm coming. I want to see spider aliens tonight, the real ones! I left Queso and Hans alone for this one. Do you think they're going to have a showing of IT next week? The clowns at the festival were fun oh, what about The Princess Bride? Sooooooooo romantic."

Looking from redhead to redhead phone to pleated predator to redhead, Everett’s brows lift a little as all he shifts is his army green eyes. So it’s true. Redheads /ARE/ crazy. “I’ve no idea what you’re talking about,” Everett mutters with an air of righteous indignation. He’s clearly done nothing wrong. Stealing a long inhalation at a pause, the blows the exhalation down at Hera, smoker’s breath and all. “Gimme a good reason not too and I’ll think about it.” Then, with a nod of his head towards her company, Everett adds, “Aren’t you here with friends,” it’s a dismissal. Even if he wants Hera to get away from the pleated predator, he can’t very well come out and say that. But if he makes himself obnoxious… er, and sticks around the other woman, it’s tantamount to the same thing. The ginger even gets a double pat on the bottom to get her moving, “Go on,” the thug will encourage with a soft smirk.

An opportunist, the door left open by the big man allows the older woman to slink in without dirtying the white gloves worn over hands that cannot be concealed as youthful. Not any more at least. She accepts a program, tossing it aside as soon as it's received, making a direct path for her target, hiding behind some of the others headed for the concession stand. Trying to keep out of view until she's close enough. Eyes narrowed, teeth bared, pure loathing radiating from the pillbox hat wearing woman.

It's only as her cover shifts to shake Jade and Thewlis's hand that she is fully prepared, apparating before the proprietors, sharks eyes glaring, crocodile smile stretching her makeup.

Accepting the kiss to his cheek the tall man blushes and smiles, "Tu-two or th-th-three... d-depending on... at-at-t-temdence…" Thewlis Moore stops mid-sentence when he sees Her. Quite simply he looses all color, eyes wide, mouth drawing open.

She's still smiling, but on her the expression seems violent.

August winces when he overhears Jade mention Grease. He might be skipping that one. "Washington coastal forests. I was also thinking about a book about the river slough plains--the Columbia and the Chehalis. But the forests first. Smaller book, maybe kind of a nature guide. It's still coming together." Recognizing Stephanie and Devlin from the Paranormal Society, he gives them a nod. "Probably won't get the same sugar high you did as a kid."

Eleanor makes a small sound of appreciation at the idea for August's next work. "That sounds like fun. Do we get to make jaunts to all these coastal forests for you to write it?" she asks, with a grin quirking on her lips. She raises a hand to wave to the other Paranormal Society members.

Jade nods, still smiling as she looks up at Thewlis, only to see him go into complete fear mode. Giving his hand a squeeze, she looks towards the source of the fear, then back to Thewlis. Stepping smoothly in front of the man, she keeps her hand in his even as she musters a tight smile for the woman. "Good evening, welcome to the Starlight Theater. My name is Jade Rivera, can I assist you to your seat, ma'am?"

Stephanie follows as Devlin goes closer to ask Hera if she's having fun then she watches as Everett moves to touch her butt inappropriately. She gives Devlin a look as if to ask whether he'd see what had just happened, unsure of what to do.

<FS3> August rolls Alertness: Success (7 6 5 3 2 2 1) (Rolled by: August)

Violent? Expression that is violent? Like a volcano that is about to go off, Hera looks like she's about to blow her top. Yup, first thing that he did wrong was tell her what to do, then, the pat on the butt, not good. Her teeth are seething with anger, and if there's anything else going on she doesn't notice. "How DARE you touch me you sorry son of a bitch. It's bad enough you ruin my classes and stalk my windows. I swear, one day my dog is going to have your balls for breakfast and then spit them out so Queso can play with them!" She attempts to move closer to him and yells, likely loud enough for most everyone in the theater to hear, "I will pound your ass like a Cherokee drum!" If she can, she tries to go over to Everette to dig the heel of her boot into his toe. Him touching her has really really pissed her off. If she's too far away to do this, it looks like she's mad enough to do something to the large man.

Oh crap.. Hera's anger is on full display and Miss Pillbox hat is giving off vibes that have him feeling something is seriously off there too. Devlin pauses for a moment, glancing to see what Everette's reaction will be all the while trying to get a clue on what is up with the Pillbox hat woman. His stance shifts a bit, with him going into a back stance in the meanwhile, something is about to happen.. the question is WHAT?"

"As a matter of fact, yes," August says, smiling down at Eleanor. "I have to update all my notes and findings, get some new photos and samples. It'll be a busy Spring."

Anything else he was going to say is cut short by the two altercations that have begun. He watches Thewlis, the woman in the pillbox hat, and Jade until he hears Hera, then shifts his attention to her and Everett. "Uhoh," he murmurs.

Eleanor follows August's gaze and she narrows her eyes at the pillbox woman. She's a local, she knows all too well who that is. "Shit, that's Mrs. Moore. She's a..." swallows, "piece of work. I'm going to run interference for Thewlis." She releases August's arm and heads over, all smiles, and declares, "MRS. MOORE! My goodness I haven't seen you out and about in forever! How wonderful of you to come out to support your son!" Loudly, she declares all of that, so everyone hears and sees.

Stephanie is a little overwhelmed by everything but should it come down to it, she will back Hera up by any means necessary, taking cues from Devlin of course.

After the double pat, Everett goes back to nonchalantly watching the other carnivore with a Joker grin, a smile he’s familiar with. A smile he wears. It’s a little fortunate that he’s as tall as he is, that he doesn’t have to say his head from side to side to look around flailing angry woman (women), but also unfortunately that it means his attention isn’t much on her other than she’s not heeding his advice.

Worse, like that barking dog trick, he’s providing almost the perfect distraction.

Sorry son of a bitch? That gets his attention. And it’s a step up from huge lug. Oh, she must be mad. She steps closer, and the thug leans back holding his hands up shoulder height, defensively. But what probably doesn’t help is the soft smirk on his lips. Does he find this funny? Everett takes his eyes off the redhead for a second to look past her, then flick his wet hair, “Hey look,” he starts. As a way of an apology, or as a way to make things worse, it doesn’t matter. That’s when she stomps her heel past the composite of his composite toe boot and the left side of his face clenches with pain, “Fuck,” he says, sucking in breath.

The token goth kid, Mike, is on his way over quickly, adjusting the phantom mask when he hears Hera (like a fair number of others in proximity) yelling and sees her going for the stomp. How likely is he to stop it? Not very he's been working the crowd like he was told, but he's going to try and get to the redhead' aid!

Identified, Maggie Moore's smile twists, one part of her lip twitching, threatening to become a snarl. Those in immediate proximity can -feel- something nasty on its way when Eleanor is calling her name, and there is venom in those doll's eyes when she turns, the smile stretches and becomes something like a grimace.

"Oh. I'm -very- proud." the older woman suddenly gushes, her voice silk sliding over, and hiding the serrated razors. Sheathing them and looking between Eleanor, Jade, and then linger on Thewlis. Lips closing, smile tight, hands unconsciously at her sides held like claws. "I just hope that Thewie dear" the endearment making Thewlis twitch, "Remembers where he came from..." Maggie looks between the women again and Thew's head is down, staring at his feet, shoulders hunched, and a drop of crystal clear moisture between the toes of his shoes.

A member of GHPD, dressed as Nada from they Live, right down to the green flannel, faded jeans, and Piper Mullet hovering, watching, lowering his sunglasses while Phantom Mike of The Opera sweeps in, offering a hand to Hera, bowing and saying aloud, "Christine! I had thought I lost you!"

Seeing someone is going to intercept Miss Pillbox hat, Devlin's attention turns fully on Hera just in time to see her heel connect. Strange reaction on his part though, rather than getting angry or some other emotional display, Devlin's face just goes calm as he steps forward yet out of immediate arm's reach of either party. For the moment, he does not intervene physically but he does state with a degree of calm yet his voice carries, "Please dial it down a few levels." Popcorn and soda still in hand, and still holding a back stance.

"Come on, Hera, let's get to our seats," Stephanie chimes in after Devlin in an attempt to get her angry friend's attention.

Hera goes from furious, to satisfied. Ha! The tiny, at least compared to Everette, woman, had her victory. <<Hera strong!>> She mutters beneath her breath, as if she might be channeling the might of a goddess. But, she doesn't like hurting people, she was really trying to do is all to make a point. "You should NOT touch women like that UNLESS you have permission!" It looks like she's about to say something else but, she's not going to be that cruel. Her pretty eyes are likely aflame though and she stands up straight and proud. "Now" she says, "I am going BACK to go have fun with my cousin and my friend. Come back over here boy if you want to pull back a stump, and I don't mean the tree unless you want to get ground." She then tells Devlin, "But he touched my ass and he didn't have permission! He also can't tell me what to do!"

Eleanor will not be cowed. Maggie Moore is terrifying, but Ellie has faced far, far scarier things. Her Physical and mental shields go up just incase though, because she's also not stupid. Green eyes sparkle defiantly in the face of a woman they referred to as 'pure evil' when they were kids. "Which movie are you here to see Mrs. Moore? The Thing? My boyfriend and I are seeing that one. Surely you're too young to be interested in that black and white film."

"Thewlis knows exactly where he came from, Mrs. Moore. And thankfully, that part of his life is over. Now please, accept a free box of Milk Duds and a medium fountain drink and take your seat. The movies are about to begin." Jade clings to the barest pretense of civility, still standing in front of Thewlis in a way that doesn't even try to not be protective of the much taller man. She gives Maggie a hard stare, "If you are not here for the show, then I suggest you leave. This event is for paying customers only, and unless you have a ticket, you will have to either purchase one from the ticket booth up front or you will have to leave the premises, by order of the management."

Everett doesn’t waste pleasantries. His nostrils flare, the right side of his lip curls. Shy of snarling, his right hand rises fingers curled like claws ready to snatch. One assault exchanged for another; what he does do is lunge towards the redhead. Leaning down to best put his lips to the side of her head, his jaw remains clenched while the giant murmurs words meant only for Hera while his eyes barrel holes towards the woman speaking to the hosts.

August watches Eleanor dive in to help with Maggie Moore, who he only knows of from vague stories (none of them good). He feels it, though, when she wards herself like that, and starts to hobble that direction. That Hera has managed to deal with Everett on her own gives him some leave to do so. He moves in behind Eleanor, watching Maggie carefully for signs of anything odd.

Hera is normally pretty perceptive but it looks like her mind isn't as quick as it needs to be. Her fist balls and it looks like she's about to /try/ to take a swing toward the hulk who 'often seems to be the center of her attention' because he's sexy and he may be the only one who knows it. But then she hears something and her eyes go wide. What else is a surprise is she, who tries to often be the perfect lady says, "What the fuck?" Then she gasps and mutters, "Sorry." Seems she does have a humble streak somewhere in there but she whispers to Everette, without trying to kill him, at least not yet.

Still calm and patient, Devlin's eyes remain on the pair (that is Hera and Everette). Still standing a little oddly as far as the causal observer might think. No violence so far.. hard to tell if he is worried or not for the moment by his expression alone.

Stephanie decides she is just going to go for it and go up to Everett and Hera with the most fake smile on her face and pull on Hera's arm. "The movie's gonna start, let's go find our seats, Hera!"

"Oh... Well. I've always loved Hepburn... Never too young to appreciate the movies that inspired others." Maggie tries to be gracious, the wolf in sheep's clothing... Stripe before he disconnected Billy's alarm clock. Jade's comments freeze her expression. Looking to Eleanor like a bug that is wandering just out of range of squashing, to something like a lioness being challenged for dominance of the pride when she is given orders. No one gives Maggie Moore orders. -Maggie Moore- orders, people listen. The words are in her eyes and the snarl is hidden behind the smile.

"I'll suppose you made sure there were a few purple drinks to be enjoyed..." Maggie sniffs, turns to attempt to shoulder past Eleanor, only to see the scruffy man now with her. "Well Ms. Lake... interesting company." Maggie tries to smile sweetly, but it looks sick, tries to sound pleasant but it's a cheap veneer.

Devlin is nodded to by Officer Nada as he steps up besides the EMT, "Thought I was gonna be out of bubblegum for a second there man..." there's a chuckle and an companionable elbow tossed into his bicep. "Wonder what's next?"

As others have said, lights in the concession area begin to dim, and show announcements scroll above the theater doors, while the voice of one of the staff comes smoothly over a PA system, the young lady having either practiced extensively, or being one of the THS drama students, "Ladies and gentlemen, Drunken Master will be starting soon in the Drive-In. Vehicle speakers are now on, so that you can enjoy pre-feature music and entertainment."

Curled thick fingers clench into hammers, open, then clench again. A Candy Hulk meditative gesture, with flaring nostrils. Even when the quick combatants cease and whisper sweet nothings to each other, and when you own the candy store, what else are your whispers, Everett still looks like he may do damage to something. Or someone with where his green gaze falls and doesn’t move from. At least they took Devlin’s advice. He still hasn’t moved from where he was stabbed on the top of the foot. Through clenched teeth he answers a question poised to him, “Just. Just follow her,” Everett(e) nods his head towards Stephanie.

When Maggie shoulders past her and makes her snide comment, Eleanor twitches, the old fear of the old bat rising for a moment, then she shouts cheerfully in the woman's wake, "Have a lovely evening Mrs. Moore!" She looks to August as she lets out a breath she didn't realize she was holding. "I think that may have been the bravest thing I have ever done," she whispers to her date. She looks to Jade and Thewlis, "Good luck on the night," and heads for Theater 2, where Maggie wouldn't be caught dead.

Ok, maybe she /does/ do what he says, for now. This likely isn't going to last for long but she doesn't look mad anymore, she really really really looks confused. Hera is many things but, confused? Not too often. When Stephanie prompts her to follow though, she does so. "I uhm, need to tell you two something when we get in, ok?" She's been so distracted, she hasn't even had time to wave to Jade and Thewlis, the two who are the cutest couple ever!

Nodding to the officer, Devlin relaxes a bit and moves along with Hera. "Should be an interesting movie. Floor show sure was.." either he is trying to break tension or accomplish something else there for a guess. He offers to Everette, "If your foot is still hurting after the show, I do have my medic bag in the Rubicon and can take a look at it for you. Save you a trip." He then moves along to keep up with Hera and Stephanie.

August smiles blandly at Maggie Moore, a sort of gentle, guileless smile that suggests what she's implied of him is a true compliment. Once she turnes to go, he makes a face. "Christ, she is a piece of work," he murmurs to Eleanor. A nod for Thewlis and Jade, with a sympathetic twist to his lips, then he goes with Eleanor to Theater 2.

Stephanie leads Hera in theatre for the movie, confident that Devlin would be following. What gets her attention is Hera needing to tell her and Devlin something and she gives her friend a concerned look. "Okay, okay...sure. Once we get in." She glances over her shoulder at Devlin, her expression still concerned.

As people take their seats in Theater 1, Roxy takes the stage in front of the theater screen, wearing a gorgeous replica of Audrey Hepburn's dress from the film (https://i.imgur.com/kBZ2Kxe.jpg). Her hair has been pinned back to somewhat emulate the pixie cut of the character as well. The bustier gown is in white organza, decorated with a black floral embroidery pattern of silk thread and jet beads. The flowing over-skirt is split at the front to reveal a pencil skirt beneath. It is as iconic as the film itself.

The dancer holds a cordless microphone in her hands, ensconced in white, elbow-length gloves. "Thank you, one and all, for attending the grand opening of the Starlight Theater. Tonight, I have the privilege of presenting one of the most beloved films of the 1950s, which put Audrey Hepburn on the map, and made the name Givenchy iconic in fashion." She holds one of the dress panels out as illustration.

"Sabrina was released in 1954, directed by Billy Wilder, and staring Humphrey Bogart, William Holden, and a young actress just starting out at the time, Miss Audrey Hepburn. The film was selected for preservation by the Library of Congress in 2002. It was nominated for six academy awards, including Best Director and Best Actress, and won Best Costume Design for the legendary Edith Head."

Roxy smiles to one and all, trying to evoke the poise of Hepburn. "This is the story of a chauffeur's daughter, Sabrina, who returns home from two years of culinary school in Paris, as a beautiful young woman, and immediately catches the attention of the playboy son of her father's rich employers, the Larabees. He woos and wins Sabrina, who has had a terrible crush on him since she was a child, however their romance is threatened by his far more serious older brother, who runs the family business and is relying on the younger Larabee to marry an heiress in order for a crucial merger to take place. Please sit back and enjoy Starlight Theater's presentation of Sabrina."

The dancer moves off the stage as the house lights go down for the film to begin.

He watches her going, his right hand sliding down his hip to encircle around the handle of his black buck knife; thumb flicking the safety clasp off and feeling its weight as he slides it up. … slides it up. Everett’s long black hair whips down to look at his right hip and then his shoulder sag with disappointment. That’s right. He left that at home. Rather than staying in line at the concessions pawing at his hip, he licks his thin lips and uses both hands to clear his wet hair from his face, watching the piranha head towards the Sabrina.

He was going to see The Thing.
He was going to see if there was any familial connections.
He was going to put popcorn in Hera’s hair.
And he was going to be disappointed.

Maybe a different movie. For the first time since he was stomped on, Everett moves. Don’t limp, don’t limp, don’t limp, and hobbles towards the first theater.

Jade doesn't move from her position until Maggie is well on her way into the theater for the showing of Sabrina. At this point, she turns to Thewlis and smiles up at him, murmuring softly and nudging him towards the second theater where The Thing is being shown. And she walks with him all the way to the door, even waiting a few minutes extra just in case a certain someone wants to try and slip past to harass him further. Then she makes her way up into the projectionist booth so she can get the films rolling!!

Stephanie says nothing in response, speechless as Hera whispers something to her. "No way...I don't believe that!" she told Hera out loud simply.

Hera takes a moment to whisper something to Devlin and Stephanie. She frowns a little but, she goes on in with them, maybe even looking like she's following a little. "I think something wierd is going on and it may not be the movie. I don't know."

A brow is raised by Devlin at something Hera says to him quietly. No reply on his part to that. Instead he keeps things pleasant, "We are here for a show.. so lets enjoy. And leave annoyances far behind us."

Two gentlemen dressed as Clayton Forester, complete with lime green lab coat, and TV's Frank are ushering seats in Theater 2, while a man in smart suit and woman in similar era dress as Sabrina work Theater 1,

Thew Moore steps out on stage, still appearing as Gomez Addams, head down at first, and he does what he does best... He spouts trivia, couching it in a few words of a presentation

"Debuting in 1982, on the same day as Ridley Scott's Blade Runner - The Thing disappointed John Carpenter most. A box office failure, hated by critics and theater audiences. He was betrayed and shocked by director, Christian Nyby, who publicly panned Carpenter's version, saying, "if you want blood, go to the slaughterhouse. All in all, it's a terrific commercial for J&B Scotch." Thew gives a moment to consider he hasn't stuttered, or stumbled yet eyes down even as he faces out into the crowd.

"A cult favorite, that grew to be a cornerstone in body horror, suspense, and horror. The Thing is tension. It questions the concepts of trust, belief, and shakes at the ability to take everything around oneself for granted. It just took years for the public at large to recognize the genius, even if it broke the heart of the man who brought it to us. Please enjoy John Carpenter's, The Thing." Thew moves off stage as lights dim and the curtains go up, revealing the screen behind.

In theater one, Maggie sits, silently snarling. Not allowed in the box seats, and only able to get seating on the ground floor. No balcony seating. Not fair. The smile is gone, only a thin ragged line where she grinds her teeth. Eleanor Lake... Jade Rivera. Targets. For very separate reasons as the woman seethes in her seat, deflected from getting what is owed her.

Stephanie settles down next to Devlin in the private box, puts her drink in the cup holder and dumps her Milk Duds into her popcorn, ready to enjoy the movie.

Hera settles down into the box as well and sits up and gets ready for the horror show to start. "That guy just really doesn't make any sense, no sense at all. As I tell a lot of people coming in and out of my classes, meth, not even once, alright?"

August settles into a seat with Eleanor. Box seats, ha! They can even make out like teenagers if they want. He makes a low sound of surprise to hear that tidbit of Thing history; considering how well-loved the movie is these days, it's a surprise to hear it was so derided at the time. "Guess movies are like people, some just get better with age." He has a few M&Ms, leans in against Eleanor with a sigh. As messy as the lobby situation had been, it was a good night.

Devlin settles back into his seat and takes up the old school drink in hand while popcorn nicely seated in lap. He shrugged earlier to Hera's statement. "Should be a good show.. was pretty popular with the Grunts.. I knew four of them that had copies to watch.

Ellie tries to shake off the sloshing chill in her belly that has nothing to do with her cherry ICEE. She snuggles in against August for the film, munching on popcorn and snow caps, and trying to convince herself she isn't going to have nightmares about Maggie Moore tonight.

Hera takes in a deep breath and starts to relax. "Ok ok..." she says, "I was just hearing things, yes, The Hulk is not going to come to my rescue, no no no, nope. In fact, I'm as safe as I can be." She then mutters more and more under her breath until....the movie officially catches her attention. Yup, a good time to be had. Just watching the movie, nothing bad here. Finally, she goes quiet. There's better things to do than fret about a large man with long hair.

It is not the movie he wanted. It is not even the company he wanted to keep. Right now, there should be someone screaming and huddled into him for protection. Instead, he stares at the back of the older, elder woman’s silhouette, with one hand between the chair next to him, holding the cup holder, wiggling it back and forth idly wondering how difficult it would be to pull it free and club the woman. It is dark. He might get away with it.

Nobody preys on the people of this town.
Nobody except him.

Thew makes his way up from the theaters to the passage and stairs up to the projection booth, where Jade is waiting for him, and the small comfy chairs, bringing up extra icees as well (mixed you better believe) and allowing himself to pretty much collapse an control his hyperventilating. Mom and public speaking..

Maggie is oblivious to Everett, at least for now. In the movie to spite that little... OH that little... the older woman's hand slaps down onto her arm rest while she sits back, trying not to mutter aloud lest -SHE- be able to have her be thrown out.

A little ball of hate watching a movie about a girl in love, in a classic. Oh how Maggie Moore hated it.

Stephanie tries not to think about what Hera whispered in her ear while enjoying the movie. What or who could Hera be needing protection from? She was concerned.

Devlin is pretty chill as he watches the movie.. nice to see violence that is just on the screen.. not on the streets of LA, other places, let alone when deployed.

Hera continues to remain quiet to enjoy the show. It's The Thing, a total classic. What is not to like?

Stephanie jumps at the appropriate parts, sometimes even burying her face on Devlin's shoulder without even thinking about it. She isn't really the horror movie type but it makes her friend happy so she's watching it anyway.

Continuing to glare at the back of her head, his grouse turns into a deep frown when she slaps her hand down to the armrest. Eyes narrow, then examine the other people on the ground floor. He turns his gaze back at her, his expression turning to consideration, then a soft smile that turns sadistic. “Hey.” Everett’s smile fades as the first sound, softly spoken, then his volume increases, “Hey! Knock it off lady. Just turn around and watch the fuckin’ movie!” He stands up abruptly, and sounds indignant, “No I will not let you suck me off in the theater!”

Yes. He’s being loud and obnoxious. And trying to get them both kicked out.

In some of the more gory scenes as other's stop eating, Devlin's still snacking despite the blood and gore. A teen girl comments a little to loudly, "What's with that guy?" as it seems Devlin is creeping her out with the blood gore still has appetite bit. If someone looks towards Devlin at that moment, he can be seen to be grinning.

Hera looks over at her cousin and Stephanie for a minute and shakes her head at something. But then, more gore. She laughs and giggles and starts balling her fists in a fun way. No, she's not going to hurt anyone, but she blurts out, "Go thing go, go thing go." Yeah, someone has to cheer the poor alien on. After all he's been frozen for a long time. He just needed a hug.

The eyes turn to Everett as he stands and declares as he does. The snarl on her features hardening as she stands up, She stands next and bares her teeth at the larger man... and then just as she is up to her feet... she's down, hard, her head smacking against the runner with a cracking sound, pillbox hat flying.

"OH! Oh help me!" You know those people, men or women, that turn sobbing victimhood into an expression like smiling? People turn, giggles about what the big man said being prevalent until the old woman hits the ground, and begins trying to crawl away. "He's going to hurt me! HELP!"

Predators circling,

"Sometimes, I can't believe we're friends..." Stephanie whispers to Devlin, grossed out at the gore, giving Hera a 'This is your fault' look.

"Oh come on.. we see worse at accidents.." is Devlin's whispered reply for Stephanie. "At least we are not dealing with IEDs.. "

"We see enough of this kind of stuff at work, how can you possibly enjoy this?" Stephanie counters quietly.

The racket down below can be heard even above, and Jade has had enough. Sabrina is turned off and the theater lights brought back up while a voice states over the intercom, "Apologies ladies and gentlemen while we deal with a small issue, the film will resume shortly. Please feel free to go visit the restrooms or concessions while we attend the situation. Startlight Theater would like to thank you for your patronage."

Meanwhile, Jade arrives int he theater, flanked by two attendants, moving down the aisle with purpose. "Sir? Ma'am? I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you both to leave. You are disrupting the theater and everyone else's enjoyment of the show. There are exits to either side as well as the front door. If you do not comply, we will be forced to involve the police and have you both detained." She pauses, glancing from Everett to Maggie, her gaze lingering on neither while she awaits their response.

Thewlis watches from the projection booth, says nothing. Scary things in Theater one... Best to not be noticed.

Hera adds to the conversation, "Hey, at least the alien is obvious with his intentions. He wants to take everything over, it's survival of the fittest. It's not like he stole anyone's money and it's boring in Antartica. You have to do something for entertainment. Might as well invade and replicate." Fortunately The Thing has not been turned off. That would be bad for Hera's cheering section.

"Great story.. great effects.. " is the quick quiet reply by Devlin. "and best of all.. I don't have to treat them.."

Putting his hands up, Everett smirks softly, showing the front and backs of his hands without moving, “Aw, c’mon trollop. If I hit a flail thing like you, you’d be out, not with a chair-shaped bruise. Your last trick give you that?” The moment Jade appears with back up, Everett’s smile widens. He’s saving lives. “Sure thing,” he says, pleasantly enough. “I understand completely.” He jerks his thumb over his shoulder turning his attention to the old woman, “I’ll go out the front,” leaving the implication open.

And he’s as good as his word.

Stephanie considers Devlin's words and she tries to enjoy the story in between the less enjoyable bits for her.

Hera can't help but look over at the two medics, "Ok ok so, they do that blood test and all to determine if the thing is part of the people and what not but...would that REALLY work? I mean really. I don't know that much about blood" Well, maybe if will if Everette continues to crush on her windows.

Maggie stands, wobbly - she did hit her head to try and get the crowd on her side. Glowering at Everett and firing cancer rays out of her eyes at Jade. Accepting her hat from another crowd member and taking the time to put it back on.
"Fine then. I can go..." taking several step forward, "He would trash this place up at least a little, wouldn't he?" Maggie's wandering eye focuses on Jade when she says that, a little sneer twisting her expression before she gathers her purse to go at a measured pace.

After the end of the movie, Stephanie tells Hera and Devlin, "Hey, we should hang out the three of us together sometime. Have a few drinks."

Jade just offers a sharp smile towards Maggie as the ushers escort her out, "I'll make sure to send you a notice when we have our double feature of Friday and Barber Shop. Have a lovely evening Mrs. Moore." Moving along behind the ushers, she watches to make sure that Maggie Moore leaves the building then turns to the usher and murmurs, "Make sure that woman never sets foot inside here again. And find the very large gentleman and give him two free passes to a showing of his choice." With that, she returns to the projection booth and restarts Sabrina with a brief, "We thank you for your patience. The movie will resume in just a moment."

Hera shrugs and says, "Vivid Dreams is pretty much open all the time. Grace comes over and visits often."

Devlin nods, "Sure, though I will want to bring Morrigan along some times."

Stephanie makes a bit of a face. "Of course you do," she teases Devlin, "It's adorable that you have a girlfriend now. I guess not having to study 24-7 makes it easier to get laid, huh?" She walks with the two of them out the theatre as they talk.

Hera raises a brow at the conversation but fortunately she thinks before she speaks on that one. When mentioning Morrigan she says, "You really should bring her by. I don't think I've formally met her."

"I thought she had been by.. I'll have to fix that." Devlin replies.. but no mention of his status is made for Stephanie.. but he does start humming Every Breath You Take... perhaps teasing on his part.

“I haven’t either but we went to the same high school, I’ve seen her around. She was a senior when I was a freshman.” Steph explained. “Not that I ever talked to her but I know her face and her name at least.”

Letting out a little later than expected - Maggie Moore's movie ended well early. Stomping out of the theater, the lobby, glaring at attendants and the girl finishing up the ticket kiosk who locks the door and stares as if looking at a monster out of nightmares. Once in the seat of her old beast of a car, that she's had that worthless sack she calls her son keep running, she turns over the engine, turns up her radio and promptly has a fit.

Hands slamming against the wheel before she grips it, hands like claws squeezing until they're bloodless. Screaming expletives and slurs, all of those things brought out to specifically be hateful, and mean, and hurt, but with no one to use them on. She rears back, takes a breath and stops, suddenly. Again, there's that sensation, like soothing hands on her neck and shoulders. Cool enough to ease the fever, firm enough to massage away the tension.

The theater lets out, Sabrina finishing out last once they're all done, cleanup beginning. Drinks are refilled, as is popcorn, and people happily go about their way heading to their cars, ubers, or taxi. A night well spent for most.

Maggie Moore is not among those who feels happy, or grateful. She drives until she feels better, not seeing the dark face in the rearview, or the smile filled with teeth made of broken glass. Only aware of a soothing presence just behind her.
