She's incredibly kind, she's amazingly intelligent, generous to a fault, and she has gorgeous curves. She reminds me just a bit of my older sister, in the best possible ways. I'm so glad she came calling to take a few locks of my hair.
Máma. She tried to keep us together, tried to make us all happy. Married too young to a man too rigid for her. She tried to wait for us all to be old enough to move out on our own, but they fought, a lot. I know it wasn't just about me, but I also know it was often about me doing things my báte didn't like. Last I knew, she had moved to NYC and started a new life.
Báte, my father. As a small child, I was convinced he hung the moon and stars in the sky as a gift for my mother. We've clashed, a lot. I haven't seen him in almost a decade, but I still love him, even if we never patch things up.
Biggest brother. Giver of amazing hugs, soother of scraped knees, defender of weaklings and those who can't fight for themselves. Football star, lacrosse player, everything I could never be.
Middle child. Always tried to hard to be what the family wanted. Ended up married with a baby at 20 and another on the way from someone who wasn't his wife. Never understood me, always made sure I knew I was loved, though.
Big sister. Confidante. Deeply missed. The only family member who truly knew who I was without judgement, and the one I should have gone to instead of running away. She led me to confidence through example and sheer force of will.
Little cousin, shit stirrer, on Báte's side of the family. The only one I keep in touch with on the regular. Left them to the wolves when I ran off, but at least I set a (bad) example.
My cousin. My father and his mother are related somehow, though neither of us is overly sure how, not that it matters overmuch. I'm both glad he found his way back into my life and terrified that he's found it here.
Little niece, Dmi's daughter with his wife. Never met the wife, never met Kala, but I've seen pictures and I already adore that little girl. Someday, I'll make contact, when I'm sure I can be bibi Dita, rather than náno Lea.
Secrets: Those doing casual looks into Perdita's past will find all the appropriate information such as birth certificate, social security number, date of birth, past addresses, etc. They'll even find a few social media accounts, though they're set private, but a deep dive will find that it's all a well crafted illusion.
Unicorn: Perdita is rarely seen without her gold unicorn pendant on a gold chain around her neck. If one is paying attention, on the reverse of the pendant, a dark skinned woman with one hand over her heart, the other raised as if in benediction, forming the unicorn's horn. The whole thing looks expensive and custom, with elements of both Catholicism and Hinduism in the design.
Manners: Perdita has at least a veneer of being raised in 'proper' society. You won't catch her lifting her menu from the table or requesting an oyster fork if one isn't provided, but such things might slip ever so slightly, occasionally.
Bauer Building: Somehow Perdita ended up in possession of the Bauer Building downtown. Need office space and don't mind possible ghosts or possible murderous mole people in the basement? Perdita's your gal.
On Point: It's extremely rare to see Perdita without at least mascara, evenly winged liner and some sort of lip gloss enhancing her looks. Her hair is always well styled, her clothes carefully selected, her nails well manicured and her shoes, well... on point.
Car: While it's certainly not what one of the truly rich folk in town would drive, Perdita drives a cherry red 2020 Nissan Altima she just couldn't let go when she left Seattle. If anyone asks, it was a gift from Daddy... though it's not entirely clear whether she means her father, or...
The woman known to the world as Perdita Leontes was born Leander Kolompár in a small village called Alexandria Bay, in New York. The youngest child of a Mexican-American woman named Gabriella and a Hungarian-born Romani man named Danior, life wasn't easy for her growing up, especially with two older brothers who were big and strong to try and live up to, and an older sister who was so much prettier and more clever in her eyes... and it was made even worse as she got older and started pushing back against her assigned male role... It didn't help that she was fárma-kátarka, a 'witch', like her great aunt before her. In truth, she was learning how to Glimmer, as said aunt had done before her. Then there was the racism from the townsfolk, combined with the fact that she was routinely speaking three different languages as her parents' relationship deteriorated. Spanish to her mother, the Kalderash dialect of Romani Chib to her father and English at school.
With their mother sick of life with Danior (and the children, honestly, who reminded her far too much of her husband) and the children old enough to be able to care for themselves, Gabriella divorced him and went back to New York City to live with her parents. The girl who would become Perdita was 13 by this point, and chose to stay with her father out of misplaced worry for him being suddenly alone.
When her father caught her with her boyfriend in her bedroom, he called her 'chudáta', a carnival freak, a pervert, and threw her out .
Suddenly homeless at 16, she took to the streets and made her way to New York City, then down to Miami, having initially want to find one of her siblings or her mother and grandparents... but caught in the siren song of freedom.
She soon fell in with a crowd of other Queer youth who were either homeless or had very little supervision, and soon learned how to pick pockets and learn how to get ahead in life using her looks and charms. By eighteen, she had a wealthy sugar daddy named Eddie who'd installed her in a luxury penthouse apartment downtown and was supplying her with pretty much anything she wanted. Appointments with the best doctors for transition care, hormone therapy, cosmetic fillers, jewelry, fancy clothes, anything to keep her attention. In those days, she went by Lea, and she was very happy with Eddie... until she met Eddie's son, Niko, about a year into her relationship with Eddie. Where Eddie was dominant and demanding, Niko was snarky and witty, and it didn't hurt they were the same age. She knew it was wrong, but she soon had both men eating out of her hand... until, once again, Daddy caught her with a boy in bed.
For the second time in her life, a man she cared about got violent with her and a boy she cared about. The fight between Eddie and Niko was over quickly, and then he came at her. Lea used her abilities offensively for the first time, though still in self defense. She walked away with minor bruising. Eddie didn't fair as well, what with the various medium weight furniture smacking into him from various directions as an angry trans girl crouched over her lover.
With Niko fleeing the penthouse after witnessing her abilities, and Eddie unconscious on the ground, she emptied the wall safe of valuables, both his and hers, cuffed him to the bed and walked out of the apartment a free woman. She spent the last four years under various identities, with the help of an enby hacker friend named Jamie, pulling grifts on rich men to get shiny things she wanted... until early February, 2021. Jamie called her in Seattle, frantic, and warned her that Eddie was on her trail in San Francisco, where she'd been working a con a year earlier.
Something insisted she head west, and in her new identity of Perdita Leontes, she did. Now in Gray Harbor, sporting a new, softer look and completely ready to settle down and live a boring life. Boy, did she pick the wrong town... or maybe the perfect one.
Most of her assets are tied up and inaccessible here, she has enough to stay comfortably in an apartment for a few months while she... looks for a real job. Ew.
Standing at slightly above average height, and with a very slender build, this young woman has an air of mischief about her, like she knows a secret and it amuses her. Her skin is a rich warm shade of pale brown, broken up by a few smatterings of freckles that are usually hidden beneath well blended foundation. Her heart shaped face is framed by long, raven black hair with only the slightest wave in its texture, her heavy bangs almost completely obscuring her well manicured eyebrows. Dark brown, mirror bright eyes look out from beneath thick lashes, enhanced with expertly applied eyeliner and mascara. Her nose is well shaped, a bit wider than Western beauty standards typically allow, her lips almost too full, currently glossed.
She wears a red dress with black and white rose print, its scoop neck collar revealing her collar bones, flirting ever so slightly with modesty. Its fitted cut is gathered at the torso, stopping at mid thigh. Black matte leggings are tucked into a pair of perfectly matched red ankle booties with a high, chunky heel. Around her neck, she wears a simple red rose pendant on a black chain. In colder weather, this outfit is paired with a black button down cardigan or a grey tailored peacoat with black piping.
