Not Local: In fact, Baylee is some rich kid from England, like....very rich. Peerage, too. Third child of James Crispin Bewicke-St. John, 23rd Baron Althorp of Wessex, and his wife Madeline Mary Bewicke-St. John.
Private Investigator: Baylee shied away from taking on some of the more traditional roles someone of her lineage would take, it's not like being something unusual is that outlandish. There are plenty that have eschewed politics and service in governmental positions for something more real.
Addiction Problems: Might be why she "ran away" from home. She's got some problems, some are in the past, some the present, all are always there waiting for her to slip up.

Can someone even live up to a name like that? Baylee decided that after years of attempting to fit her square self into that very round hole that she wasn't going to go through with it any more. Baylee, obviously a nickname for her horrendous name, grew up as the middle child, so she was neither the oldest that was expected to be the public face of the children, nor the youngest that was dotted on by everyone. This meant she had to forge her own path, and find her own place, and not get kicked out of a fourth school and ruin her parents good name.
She was always trouble, and always troubled. By the time she hit teenage years she was on the fourth school, with the warning that this was it. If she got kicked out of this one she was done, very, very done. But she finished, and then tried to go to university. That also failed, spectacularly, and she ended up moving to London, getting a flat with three other girls and partying away her early twenties. By the time she hit twenty-five she had been in rehab a half a dozen times, and was on her parents last nerve. They couldn't openly cut her off, but she was getting uninvited to Christmas and other traditional get togethers.
So she left, she decided that the environment wasn't good, and she headed across the pond to the US. She landed briefly in New York, then started to travel around the country, met a man that worked as a private investigator in Chicago, and they dated awhile. Long enough for her to learn the trade, get involved, and then strike out on her own. Now she's settled in Gray Harbor, of all places.
Medium length hair that is such a dark brown at the roots that it edges into the black category in the darker, colder months when the sun isn't as prevalent is left loose the majority of the time. The features of her face are strong, defined, with high cheekbones and almost too-perfect teeth. Skin is a deep tan, always, no matter what the time of year it is she seems to be naturally tanned. The eyes are startlingly blue, almost like she's wearing bright blue contacts, but all signs point to that blue being real.
The clothes that she wears are just as torn between two things as her overall appearance is. In difference to the fact the ambient temperature tends to fluctuate between breezy, and outright cold she's wearing an old Army surplus button-down shirt with the name "Smith" stitched over one pocket, and the sleeves rolled up so that they are several inches above her wrists. Wrapped around one wrist are leather bracelets that look like they've been misappropriated from someone's tiny lapdog. Beneath the old Army shirt she's wearing a sheer white chiffon tank-top that looks like it probably cost her entire months welfare check to purchase. Beneath the sheer tank-top she's wearing a bright red and black zebra print bra, something that looks like it came from Strippers-R-Us. Fitting low on her hips are a pair of jeans that are at least one size too small and quite possibly bought from the boys section at the local Target. The hem of the jeans have been rolled up into slim cuffs, and a pair of bright red Nike shoes.
