Eli
Eli was born and raised in Gray Harbor.
He was a bit of a surprise and his parents were older when he was born. His father was a deeply religious ex-military man and his mother was by all accounts a saint. She passed when he was ten. A few years after that Eli's father fell down the steep steps down into the cellar of their home and died from a broken neck. After those events he moved in with a cousin.
Eli stayed on the fringes during high school and was labeled as an outsider.
He didn't leave town to go to college. He continued to be a regular face in Gray Harbor, still keeping mostly to himself. He works from his home doing translation work, mostly translating novels.
I'm not sure she's entirely willing to trust me yet, but I'm not always the easiest person to open up to. We've gotten closer -- it's bound to happen when you fight for your life with a person. It's not easy to get your head around what's going on in this town, but she's making it work.
Always been easy to talk with and straight forward. Friends aren't always easy to make, but hoping this can continue in that direction.
Sometimes I look in the mirror and I hardly recognize myself any more. You've brought out parts of me that were long forgotten and considered gone. We're both complete people on our own, but together we are something else so much greater than the parts. For the first time in my life there is real light. We can stand against the darkness because we're stronger together every day. Soulmate can be overused, but I have no doubt that's what this is.
We keep running into each other and have kept a reasonable and respectable distance. Likely enough common interest to shrink that space just a little.
I know her in the way I know a lot of people in town after living here long enough. Not that I'm one to judge, but she needs to get some more rest. Not always easy around here.

We've both been here our entire lives. No secret clubhouse for that, but need to stick together with the locals. I think she's right about strength in numbers, just not something I'm much good at.
Seems a bit like he might steal my shoes if I wasn't paying attention, but at the same time pretty likable.
Familiar face from around town. Likely one worth being more familiar with.

Polyglot: Despite spending his entire life in Gray Habor, Eli is fluent in several languages and conversational in others.
Local Lifer: He has never left Gray Harbor for more than a day or two. He keeps to the edges, but a familiar face around town.
Wanderer: Eli walks and hikes around the city and surrounding areas a lot. Likely to the point that he has a bit of a reputation for being seen out and about.
Glimmer: He has a deep personal interest in glimmer and would likely be up for discussing it with others.
Eli is tall and broad, though despite his size he has a way of leaning back and not dominating the space. His hair is dark, the top left long but pushed back away from his face in a wave and kept cropped at the back of his neck where it begins to curl. He has bright blue eyes and a carefully maintained shadow of a beard. His eyes are sharp and focused, but there is often something tentative in his expressions, lending his face to more frown lines than he should have at his age. When he does smile his teeth are straight and white and it takes some of the years away.
