- Townie... once: James grew up around here, but he left town after his parents died in an accidental fire 15 years ago. Now he's back. Maybe you used to know each other?
- Writer: Not a good one, but he's published a shitty little urban fantasy novel on an indie label, and it sold maybe 500 copies. What are the chances you own one?
- Head shrinking: He's been in and out of therapy for all sorts of issues ever since he left town a decade and a half ago. He probably still needs a good shrink.
- Drinking: It dulls the pain, scrambles memories, and loosens the tongue. What's not to love?
- Glimmer!: Most of his memories of his experiences with his own gifts have faded in the 15 years since he left, but now that he's back he's seeing all sorts of weirdness, and seems to have this weird emo-radar where people's emotions just wash over him, sometimes in good ways, sometimes bad. Want to come tell him he sparkles?
Slim, unimposing, unremarkable. Really, if it wasn't for the unruly red hair and unkempt beard, and those piercing (if often bloodshot) blue eyes, there'd be very little to draw anyone's attention to this man. He barely breaks 5'4", and can't weigh more than 140 lbs soaking wet. His features, what can be made of them from under that ginger beard, are soft, lending him a youthful air- or at least they would if his expression wasn't one of constant world-weariness and cynicism.
Still, occasionally he does smile, and those blue eyes sparkle with something... else. At those moments, it's hard not to notice him.
He's almost always in his standard uniform of battered, ill-fitting bluejeans (holes right at the knees, and not because of fashion), and a navy blue hoodie to ward away the chill- or a t-shirt with the hoodie tied around his waist when the weather is nice enough.
