ASL Turner's maternal grandmother was Deaf. As a result, he learned ASL to communicate with her more effectively than lip reading or writing things down. His name tag at work includes a small 'Interpreter' sign.

Bad Luck Bad luck has followed Turner for most of his life. He lost his parents and older brother at a relatively young age, then his sister disappeared, and a few months ago, his grandma, his only remaining local family, passed away.

Missing Sister Kenzie, more properly Mackenzie Rosalyn Quinn, was last seen in town about eight years ago. She took her car and some clothes with her and headed 'out east'.

Plant Bae Turner gardens. A bond he shared with his grandmother, and a way to help channel his energies in a more positive manner. The small Victorian home he shared with her had a lovely vegetable garden during the warmer months, and always had flower boxes on the windows.

Turner Addison Quinn was born in Gray Harbor to Benjamin 'Ben' Quinn, an out of towner, and Rosalyn 'Rose' Addison-Quinn, a local whose family had lived in Gray Harbor for several generations.

The youngest, definitely unexpected, son of a lawyer and an ER nurse, Turner had a relatively easy early childhood as far as financial concerns went. A happy go lucky child, even his twin older siblings Cooper and Kenzie got along great with him.

The Christmas before the twins were to go off to college the family decided to go visit Ben's family vacation home on Harstine Island for a family holiday. The last one had been two years prior, and Turner was looking forward to spending time with his cousins that were near his own age, and, of course, looking forward to the holiday itself. While crossing the bridge, an oncoming driver struck them with enough force to send the car airborne and into the inlet's waters.

Kenzie managed to free Turner from the van and swim to shore with him, though she was severely injured. Despite Kenzie's efforts, Turner wasn't breathing when the EMTs arrived, though they managed to get him revived on the way to the hospital. Ben, Cooper and Rose were gone.

Orphaned by the accident, the pair went to live with Rose's mother, Rowan Quinn. The children were taken care of, financially and emotionally as best Rowan could, but emotionally they were both scarred. Turner began having horrible nightmares about the accident, and Rowan and Kenzie were soon dealing with them, and the resulting chaos in his bedroom when his previously latent telekinetic abilities began to manifest. The lack of sleep meant Turner's grades took a downturn, and he frequently spent his evenings in the library, where it was quiet, so he could focus on his homework.

When Kenzie abruptly left when Turner was thirteen, he became further withdrawn into himself. It wasn't like she'd just gone to college, she disappeared without a trace, no note, nothing. Rowan filed a missing persons report, but nothing ever came of the investigation. Now the house was almost silent, as Rowan, being born Deaf, only used Sign Language except when she needed to get Turner's attention when his back was turned.

Turner's grades recovered by the end of the school year, and he did very well in classes, though he was hopeless physically and frequently found himself tripping over his own two feet. Bad luck seemed to follow him like a lost puppy, though it never really seemed to hit Turner, just the people around him.

By high school, Turner had made a few friends, enough that prom wasn't super awkward, and his grades were good enough that he attended the local community college, pursuing his degree in library sciences. Rowan died a few weeks after Turner graduated, willing everything to her grandson, save for a trust in Kenzie's name. After dealing with so much loss at a young age, Turner took a post-graduation trip on his own to the Faroe Islands, picking up a bit of Faroese during his month there. While there were minor issues with the plane's landing gears on the return trip, it eventually was able to land safely. Turner just got a job at the Gray Harbor library as an assistant librarian a few weeks ago, and is doing his best to settle in and not ruffle too many feathers.

Turner is aware that he Glimmers. He knows he's 'good with plants' and can 'move things' with his mind when he's agitated, and he's always been a great read of the emotions of others around him... though it wasn't until the last few years that he realized it wasn't just hyper-vigilance to the emotions of those around him brought on by the trauma of losing most of his family at a young age as his therapist once tried to convince him it was. He's also wrongly convinced he's responsible for the string of bad luck he's had, when it's been pure chance all this time.

He's begun consciously experimenting with his abilities, though he doesn't know he can now push emotions onto others, nor would he want to if he knew he could.

One would be forgiven if they mistook Turner for a girl. His brown hair is long and thick, with natural curls that brush his shoulders when let down, though it's usually worn in a high knot, swept back from his face. His skin is pale, a smattering of freckles . His eyebrows are dark and well groomed. His eyes are large, golden brown, and rimmed in thick lashes. His face is prettier than it is handsome, his jaw defined but tapered, his chin small, a blunted point. His neck is slender and perhaps longer than proportional, a faint Adam's apple visible.

His attire tends toward 'comfortable but presentable', with lots of oversize knit jumpers and cardigans that disguise his slim frame with slacks or simple jeans and venue appropriate shoes.
