Bayside Road
The older homes on Bayside are small, beachfront cottages accessed by narrow driveways that slice up through the hills. The less expensive houses have obstructed views and are closer to town. More expensive homes are farther from Gray Harbor, and their driveways are longer, leading to better views along the ridge. These may break from the typical architecture, some having been constructed according to the exacting demands of their eventual owners. The lots here are too steep for most to have proper yards, but they all typically have manicured landscaping.
Apartment
These bright, spacious apartments are sleekly modern and updated inside. Pale hardwood floors and lightly-colored walls add to the sense of airiness within. One or two bedrooms with one or one-and-a-half bathrooms, they all follow the same general layout: entering through a window-lit living room, one can see into the small dining room, though most also boast a breakfast bar between the kitchen and the living room; the kitchen has high-end appliances, small but well-ordered to make it functional. A front-facing balcony is accessed through large French doors, the nicest of which look right out onto the ocean, and the less expensive models face toward the road and the city. Down a small hallway, one finds one or two bedrooms and one or two bathrooms. The master bedrooms also have their very own small balconies on the other side of sliding glass doors.
Oak Avenue
Houses on Oak Avenue are three to five bedrooms and two bathrooms, all generally well-maintained. Most are two-story, though a few bungalows are scattered among the houses here. Most are older homes, built anywhere from the early 1900s up through the mid-1960s, though quite a few have been remodeled both outside and inside over the years. Hardwood floors are common inside, and vinyl siding is the most common exterior element, typically in subdued shades that blend nicely into the neighborhood. Detached garages are common, along with small attics and basements.
*Spruce Street
Single-family homes with the occasional duplex, Spruce Street was mostly developed in the 1980s, though many of the homes have since been remodeled - and a few are relics of an older time that still retain some of their original charm. Most are two-story, though a few bungalows are scattered among the houses here. The interiors are generally well-kept, though some could stand to be updated. Three bedrooms is the most common, with two bathrooms, small basements, and unfinished attic spaces. Most are owner-occupied, but a few rentals are found here and there. Everyone keeps their yard tidy for the most part.
Elm Street
Small, single-family homes that were primarily built in the mid-1900s, houses on Elm Street are the sort that get advertised as "fixer-uppers." There are a lot of rental homes here, the two-and-three bedroom properties run-down and in need of attention. Interiors are usually dated, with hardwoods that are nicked and dented or carpeting that could stand to be ripped out and replaced. Many are stuck with just one bathroom, though a few have taken advantage of partial basements to create tiny mother-in-law suites. The yards are pocket-sized, and only a few of them even have a garage - always detached, always single car. Vinyl siding on the exteriors almost always wants to be replaced.
Mobile Home Park
Single-wide trailers, that sums up life in the Huckleberry. Each space has enough room for one car to park, usually under an aluminum carport, and a few people have taken to putting potted plants out front, but still. The place is generally dilapidated. The interiors range from completely wrecked to somewhat pleasant, depending on the amount of effort the owner wants to expend. They all tend to follow the same layout: Enter into a living room space of about 13' by 7'; pass from there into a narrow kitchen about 10' wide with just enough space to squeeze a small, two-seater dining table; beyond that, a tiny "hallway" leads into the bathroom; and terminates at the bedroom door, where there's only enough room for a queen-sized bed at most and a couple of nightstands.
